Alright, i just bought a LG DVD, CD, CDR, MP3, WMA drive for my computer with lightscribe. Now i have a few questions. I make a label and when I go to burn it onto the cd the computer says "Please insert cd with lightscribe label side down."

Do I actually have to buy special cdr's to lightscribe a label on them?

Also, since i don't have two dvd drives how do i load home movies on the computer from this drive? a big point of buying this drive was to make copies of these.

I need to put them on the computer and I need to make copies on DVD's.

Thanks
ryan

Yes you will need to use lightscribe DVDs if you want to 'burn' the labels on. They're more expensive, so I wouldn't use them for everything, just things you want to look a bit nicer.

What software came with your drive?

When you say "home movies" do you mean duplicating DVDs? For that I use a program called DVDFab.

Otherwise, your DVD burner should have come with software. If you are talking "home movies" as in ones you recorded with a camera, most cameras come with software.

i dunno what my uncle does, but a week or two after a family outing he gives us a dvd. And it is a movie, not just pics.

The Drive came with Nero Start Smart.

And how would i just put a dvd on the computer?

Well you would have to make an image of the dvd you want to copy, then take the dvd out and pu the blank in, then burn the image and delete it from your harddrive (take up too much space).

I have two drives so I can copy "on the fly".

Nero can do what you want but you will have to shell out 80 bucks for the good version. When I bought my DVD drive I found this out the hard way.

If you are resourceful you can find anything for free on the web though...wink wink..nudge nudge
