My daughter got reamed on one of these scams with someone looking to lease her apartment...needless to say she got stiffed for $3000.

I never trust prize stuffs. Like at Meijer store there is like "win the car" prize. All you have fill the info like address, phone #, and etc. stuffs. Then put info it on box. I honestly think it is fake.

Dang thunderbat. $3,000 is lot! eek

I guess the only defense I have for her is that she had actually talked to a person who was supposed to lease the apartment from her...supposedly working in England and coming home to the states. I suppose if she had still been living close by I might have smelled the rat ahead of time, but with her 4 hours away in Blacksburg and doing this all on her own I was none the wiser. After it was all over she was actually visited by an FBI agent who told her that this has happened a lot in college towns where scams like this prey on young kids who dont know any better. The worst is that they were powerless to prosecute anyone since out of the country is decidely out of jurisdiction.

I understand. My dad taught me lot about scam. Hopefully, I will never get some from scam. I'm pretty sure she is very angry about that. frown
