From mud or sand: ...Instead, put something in the intended path ...your kid brother, anything—

so, the younger siblings ARE good for something, after all! Jk, Nerd.

One thing about the final item: Why watch your review mirror for cops? Your a lot more likely to get tagged by one in front of you. Usually, by the time they are in your mirror, it's when they have their lights flashing and it's too late.

Around here state troopers like to follow you for a while before they put on their lights so you have more chances to break more laws. In my experience, how you behave while the cop is following you can have a big impact on how they treat the situation. If you got caught by radar, you're probably getting a ticket either way. But if you spot the cop early (before they turn the lights on) and drive somewhat responsibly, you may get the minimum fine. But if there was a cop a few cars behind you and you didn't notice a continued to drive 85-90 for another mile, they'll be giving you the max.

The time I didn't notice the cop, I actually started going faster because some cars moved out of the way. He still only ticketed me for the radar clocked speed of 75, but gave me the max fine. Today's lesson, don't speed in CT. I could have bought a nice CAI for the cost of that ticket.

But if you watch what's in front of you, you're a lot less likely to even get hit with the radar to begin with.

There's too many hiding spots on highways here in Connecticut. When I was younger, I used to keep a constant eye on the road ahead for troopers and I had a radar detector. The 2 tickets I got, I never could have seen them early enough. Both times the detector went off before I could spot them. Now, I just drive closer to the speed limit and only have fun in areas I know the troopers don't frequent and can't hide.
