You just need to get one in some twisties or out on a autocross course.

I'm sure the experience of driving one would be like a driving a G8 or a GTO...if this was Bob Lutz goal then I'd say he hit the nail on the head. Great cars with great hardware that are stout performers...but their looks and style is what leaves me dry and lukewarm.

As a matter of fact I'd have to say the same about most of the German marques. Mercedes, VW, BMW and Audi (save for the R8)just all strike me as very bland. Many if not most are exceptional performance machines but the styling is way too conservative for me. Hence, I dont think I'll ever own one, nor do I have large desire to...none on my fantasy wish list.

Wait wait wait did you just compare driving and M5 to an G8 or GTO? the boats of the car world? lmao

Even a Zr1 doesn't come close to an M3 or M5 on handling.

I drove my friends M3 the other night. Fully loaded I mean damn with the carbon fiber roof the legit cross weave carbon fiber from the factory roof lol. All he had was an exhaust lol. That thing is a highway car and a half then I got into the twistie roads and I just fell in love lol.

Chris, the G8 was meant to compete with the BMW. I forget which one, but I think it was the M3. It outperforms it in just about every way, from straight line acceleration to slalom, for a cheaper price.

Now, I will admit that mentioning the GTO surprised me. lol

I mention the GTO as a reference because it was a car that had power and handling (as far as our market is concerned) but leaves much to be desired in the visual appeal dept.

BMWs should do everything well including blowing your nose for what they cost. That much money and that bland on looks...no thank you.

I wouldnt call that comparison test a runaway victory for the M3, I'd call it pretty darn close actually and for $25k price diff its no-brainer.

It must not have been the M3, because the comparison I was thinking of was with the GT, not the GXP. But even in that comparison, with numbers that close, either they are both boats, or neither of them are. You can't say the M3 isn't and the GXP is.
