You're right palsut; your engine, instead of burning on the outside, grenades itself on the inside. Wow it's so much better, I'm gonna swap my 3800 out for a 3.1 first thing tomorrow!

Seriously, you constantly complain about how everyone teases you about your motor and then you go and make a post like this... I have absolutely no sympathy for you, you bring it all on yourself.

First off, they already did stop making the motor.

Second, Get a grip man. You seriously just like to stir the pot and piss everyone off. Go back to being slow and getting the same gas mileage we do.

That's good they stop make it. wink

Oh please. That's not true. You all get 250-300 mileage in full gas tank. I get 500 mileage in full gas tank. It is all about different driving habit. Sad but true fact... laugh

There is mine.

464/15 = 30.93

Since when is 464 500? That is a huge difference. I will let you know what my car gets when i get it running.

Well, I fill it up early. My car do have 17.50 gallon left so that's 15 gallon that I fill it up. That's left me 2.50 gallon left. I know I have hit some 500+ mileage often under this full gas tank that depend how long traffic light is.

I get somewhere around 400 some odd miles per tank when I go on trips. I have an L67.... I highly doubt you get anywhere near or over 500 miles per tank. Not in a car that weighs as much as the GP does. My Dads 2.8L V6 Cavalier doesnt even get that good of mileage, as well as my brothers Alero with a 3.4L.

Palsut my fuel mpg comparo still stands.

On the highway at 67 mph I knock down 36 mpg. With 15 gallons thats 540 miles.

So is the L67 with the HD trans all that bad?

On my commute to and from work with mixed city/highway I knock down 24mpg is that so bad for 3.8L V6 in a 3500 pound car?

I have driven from minnesota to oregon in my 97 GT.
cruise control at 70mph.

only time I stopped was for gas, food, or bathroom. and I usually was able to take care of all 3 in one stop, so 99% cruise control highway.

and I did not get the 540 people are talking about.

it was right around 450 using 16 gallons(which is still good a little above 28mpg).

if you use all 17 gallons, then you get what is coming to you.... lol.

anyway, I suppose it could vary vs a GTP due to the gearing difference.

but I still can't see 36 mpg as being a reality.

and a smaller motor does not mean better gas mileage, especially vs bigger motor in same car.

I did that same trip in a honda civic, and managed 36 mpg. not THAT much better considering the motor size difference! (it WOULD add up in the long run though). (the city mpg was the biggest difference)

our 4runner has a V6, they also made them with a 4 cylinder eek and I hear people talk about the "mpg". well, maybe it is slightly better under certain conditions, but towing? Passing? steep hills? (Why would you buy a mid sized SUV with a 4cylinder???)

So my "500" trip reset is lie because I always put zero when I fill it up?

My winter beater get like 360-400 mileage. Becasue I do have u-bend. I will get new downpipe for better mpg.

Remember my new exhaust system change my mpg very much. I just like that's not normal. It is getting longer than I thought. lol My summer car normally get 460-500 for depend city or traffic light. Mostly, I spend 97% on highway with cruise control on as always.

It is depend driver like Hercman or me I guess. Hey Hercman. Reason why you got more mileage than mine. You have 18 gallon on tank on your older model. Some grand prix have different gallon like 18 (your), 17.50 (mine) and other I forgot.

palsut, I dot say you "lied".

I said 36 mpg does not seem like a reality.

since you said you are getting 30-31, then I guess that is not 36 mpg, right? so show me where I said you lied, lol.

each car will vary slightly anyway even same model, same engine it could be different mpg.

and yes, driving style makes a big difference.
also some tires are better for MPG. Lighter rims, air pressure in the tires. what is mixed in with the gas you buy, big speaker box in the trunk (extra weight), elevation... MANY things can make a difference.

my city driving mpg suffers due to all the hills here, if you live in a flat state, you probably rock the mpg in the city.

ANYWAY, mpg is hardly the main concern, are people buying mods for mpg, or GO FAST ??
Last time I checked this wasn't one of those MPG forums, and if it was they'd kick your grand prix loving A$$ out, lol. (hybrid owners only, lol).

so saying one engine is better than the other depends on what your plans are.
