Good reason to not get 3800 engine thread is really bad and out of control. This current thread is not out of control and joking around. When he post pink bike. I have admit that I laughed about that.

I know they are joking. They know I'm joking. No harm foul. It is just website message board. If you don't like it then simple don't post/read.

Yes, I know they are banned steriod. wink

Palsut you just gotta admit that the 3800 with the 2.94 gearing is just as good if not better on the highway then the 3100.

If you backed the 3100 with a 2.94 gear that car wouldn't get out of it's own way.

Hmmm if the 3100 is such a superior motor then why did GM kill it long before the 3800?

I hate to admit that GTP is nice driving. They are little fast than mine. I drove it once at dealership. Don't ask me why I didn't got that. I make fake exuse to take a look gt/p parts for what I need for my SE model lol No, I didn't steal anything. Just "study" to take a look around if I like gt/p parts. Example like rear bumper, lower door molding and side skirt. I don't know how long they have 3100 engine. I start love this engine when I got 1997 Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme in 2001. That's how I start falling love this engine since 2001. wink

So is the L67 with the HD trans all that bad?

On my commute to and from work with mixed city/highway I knock down 24mpg is that so bad for 3.8L V6 in a 3500 pound car?
If I remember correctly the GTP gets better mileage because the Gear ratio of the tranny right? But I would also think because it doesn't have to work as hard at the 3.1 to move the car.

That's correct. That's what Hercman told me about gear ratio.

Good info. blackarrow98gp.

I met seller at my local area for leather door panel. He took this car "galaxy silver special edition" out of junk yard. He has it at his house but he is not selling special edition parts because he use it for his black car. I have seen his car. Not bad wink

He start this wrecked car engine. It is running good. He told me you could use this motor for your car. I told him that would be nice but I have no place to use this engine since I live this apt. Thank for offer. He looked at my 3100 engine and told me that's very nice. No leaking or anything bad since he work car stuffs. He work Firestone. I'm glad that I treat my engine pretty good.

Thanks palsut, and as far as engine fires are concerned, it can happen to anyone's car at any time, trust me on that. I used to help my boss investigate car fires for an insurance company; some were due to lack of proper maintenance, and some were set on purpose.
I still recall the guy who set his Mercedes on fire; burned down his garage and house as well. He had a hard time explaining to the judge why there were traces of gasoline found inside the car... shocked

Anyone remember Ford's dash wiring fire fiasco?

Now that would be scary driving along to have flames coming out of the dash.

Yup, and I remember Ford\'s Flaming Ignition Switch Recall .
So you see palsut, all cars have their share of problems. Keep your engine bay clean, fix your fuel and oil leaks, pack a fire extinguisher, and wear your Nomex boxer shorts, 'cuz you just never know... devilwink

I can't imagine set the car on fire in purpose for getting Insurance Fraud. I remember someone trying wreck this van into the tree in front of their house. They do have on video tape. They send video for "damage" view but they didn't realize they forgot cut off for "trying wreck van in the tree on purpose". lmao they are stuck with their own van since insurance won't help them. lol

Wow, Ford gotta be worse than 3800 engines fire recall. Same thing like firestone tires on Ford suv. That's shame. I used like Ford.

Yeah, I always keep my engine bay clean, fuel look good, no sign of oil leak but just oil pan. I think it is really "during oil change". No sign of missing quart. lol I will keep that boxer shorts on my mind. wink

38mpg on the highway is easy with a tune and some airflow mods. 2.94 gears are good for 100-200 rpms less than the 3.29s at cruise. Add to that the 3.8 doesn't have to work as hard as the 3.1 to lug the GP along. The GTP has greater potential for MPG increases IMO.
