I've been looking at getting rid of my car lately for something with more power. I'd love to have a GTP, but I have yet to see one for sale in my area. Let alone one that would meet my criteria (less than 100k miles, '00+, coupe, and accepts trade-ins).

I'm working with a used car dealer my family has bought from frequently, and he's going to try and get something for tommorrow: 2001 Bonneville SSEi. smile I'll know something tommorrow night or Wednesday.

Don't have the money for a GTO or I would. My price range is about $9-10k with the trade-in included.

Good luck with the new purchase, do your best to get a GT or a GTP.

I'm sure I could get a GT no problem, but then I'd have to go through the trouble ($$$) of boosting it and having a weaker tranny. Besides, I'd like a hud and fancy gadgets that were standard on the supercharged models. Otherwise I could go with an '01 Stratus R/T (possibility) that weighs less than a GP, has the same hp, and a mtx.

Hopefully I'll know something this afternoon.

an SSEi is a nice ride no doubt...I wouldnt mind having one myself cuz I've always had a big soft spot for them. I remember telling a good friend of mine after I saw one of the late body styles in black, "that's what a Trans Am looks like when it grows up"

No doubt they're great rides, and despite weighing 3800lbs they can still hit mid to low 15s in the 1/4 stock. Doesn't look like I'll be getting one though, apparently they were asking too much for it. Oh well, the search continues!

Well, didn't come across anything spectacular today. Drove a '01 Camaro, V6 auto, 70k miles. Looked good from the outside, but the inside was abused for sure. Next was an '00 Monte SS, which was interesting, had 98k miles and they were wanting $8500 ($5750 w/ trade-in and incl. taxes). It drove like a scalded dog though and was by far my favorite with the full leather interior and coupe body. Looked like it was in great shape as well. The last was an '01 Stratus R/T with mtx and 80k miles. Ran good and asking price would put me out my car +$3750. I still didn't find anything perfect and want a GTP real bad.

Anyone know of a GTP near my area? I got $6000~ for something with less than 100k miles.

In that price range you can do much better than a V6 Camaro or a 2000 Monte. You definetly won't get the power you are looking for in either of those rides.

Apparently the selection of vehicles is limited around here when it comes to anything other than trucks and non-sporty cars. Anyway, I've decided on the Stratus but I'm keeping my GP. I'm just going to buy it out right. It'll let me work on each one vice versa as project cars, one being down while the other is driven.

Besides, the Strat will be on the upper side of GP GT territory in speed while giving me a manual transmission and something different (it's practically an '00+ Mitsu Eclipse, same underpinnings and powertrain). One guy even gained just 25whp on the dyno by swapping to headers. Not too shabby. Plus, you can change cams without lifting the engine, but you have to buy two. smile

Yep. Has all the bells and whistles except leather seats (sunroof, 4 disc changer 7-speaker Infinity system, etc. etc. etc.). 3.0 SOHC V6 putting out 200hp/205ft-lb and it weighs 3000lbs; 400lbs less than a GP GT.

Deal is still pending. I'll post pics later this week if it comes home.

Here she is, as promised. Took longer to get my hands on than I thought. As above and the color is considered deep indigo, 80k miles.

Good deal. I test drove a used R/T and almost bought it for my fiancee but she wanted an SUV instead.
