Well, laugh at some rice, then I got to thinking. What is the advantage of having 2 turbos over one big turbo?

2 turbos can save on spool time compared to a large turbo.......there are several configurations for it. mercedes has a twin turbo v12 in one of there high end cars. a turbo feeds each bank of cylinders. on a supra from my understanding one turbo comes on sooner than the other (in a factory car) and then when the second one comes on its more boos more air.....so there are advantages to both setups....its not a rice thing to have 2 turbos......its a known fact that turbos generall produce higher output numbers than a SC........look at what is coming out for our cars know from intense...........

Porche has used twin turbos for years. Some twin turbos are staged small and big and some just use two little turbos. Because the little ones spool up faster giving you boost much sooner.

I know that in countries where drifting is popular people have experimented with twin turbos that will add boost under different circumstances/times in order to quickly-safely drift a corner than shoot out onto the straight, and that's only because with drifting sheer speed and power aren't always a good thing.

hehehe speaking of turbo lag.....a gt 30 40 turbo on a srt 4 makes for hellacious turbo lag........but peaks it at 298 horse and 320 on the dyno with a curve as flat as hellll......

so less lag, gotcha wink Oh, and the rice comment is because I was looking at them for some laughs. I still don't know what person came up with the idea that big purple parts for cars is cool.

We were tuning a friends Honda on the Dyno and after we where done and had the AF where it needed to be for the boost he was running we put a small sticker for the performance shop on the side window. we decided that after putting it on to let it cool down (the car not the sticker) and then do one last pull to double check everything. 8 horse power!!!! and it was a silver sticker. we joked that a red or yellow one may have netted better gains but we where happy.
