Congrats. My tester was an ass. He failed the two before me, and he made a nasty comment to one of them when going through pre-test car checks. He told the kid to turn on his headlights, he was slow in doing it and the tester said, "Turn your headlights on! Did your mommy drive you here or what?" By the time they got done with the test, he was crying. Needless to say, I was now a nervous wreck when he got in my car. He even made me parallel park twice, but I passed. I think he was just trying to fail people for the fun of it.

Why the delay? 16 years ago (Oh my I'm showing my age now) When you passed the road course you went back into the DMV took your picture got your temp liscense and you were all legal to drive solo.

I think here in michigan you have to have your permit a certain amount of time (I think 6 months), you can take you road test anytime but have to wait till that time is up. At least that is how it was when I got my license.

times have really changed. In texas, if your parent was in the car with you, you could drive. If you passed your test, then they would process your license on the spot and you could go solo the same day. This was back in the 1980's yall...... devilsmile

When I got my license four years ago, I got my permit and then got my license like 6 months later. I also did my driving school through the state so my mom just signed off on my driving times and waived the test with the instructor so all I had to do was take the final test. Supposedly, now teens in Texas have limitations up until they are 17 or 18. Someone told me that they have specific times they can drive and only a certian number of people in the car. Kinda weird if you ask me... but it's supposed to help teens become better drivers.
