Anybody have a cool trick for getting the coolant temp sensor out WITHOUT tearing the exhaust crossover pipe out?? I think someone from Chrysler designed this......

Can't you get a wrench in there? I don't know without looking at it, but I thought there was room for a wrench

The wrench hits the exhaust crossover on the bottom and it hits the top motor mount from above. I can get a deepwell socket on it but no room for the rachet. Does anyone make a flexable 3/8 extension?? A typical u-joint won't work either, no room.

Nope, you have to remove the crossover.... its a MAJOR PITA! If I remember right, you can only do a small (like 1/8) turn each time.

You cannot use a rachet, you have to use a open end wrench.

I usually replace the ECT sensor when the LIM is off (because it's a PITA!), but I also have a set of these that works well: GearWrench Flex Head Ratchet Wrenches You may be able to find them locally, other companies offer them as well.

I replaced mine once but I can not remember if I removed it from the bottom or by removing the t stat and doing it that way.

No problem, it would probably be easier to change the sensor, if you could get the motor mount and bracket out of the way.. hammer

I can't remember, but I know I didn't disassemble anything.
When I get back home, out of state, I will tinker around there and see what the clearance is.
