Hello,

I thought I would post this here even though there aren't many active members in the area.
It takes place at Woodburn Dragstrip in Woodburn Oregon, which is about 30 minutes South of Portland Oregon.
The Bonneville club seems to be pulling in members from the East Coast and Canada, we are pulling in members from California and Arizona.

PDXCGP will be having their 3rd official Big Summer bash this year.

Woodburn Dragstrip http://www.woodburndragstrip.com/
Saturday, July 26th
Gates open @ 8:00AM

For 3 years we have joined the Pontiac Bonneville Club at Woodburn Dragstrip for a "Showdown". This year is no exception!

WDS offers us our own lanes, and Club Grand Prix competes against Bonneville Club in bracket racing. For those that are unfamiliar with bracket racing, it's racing with handicaps. The slower car gets to leave before the faster car making it possible for either car to win. There are specifics, but I won't go into them here. The bottom line is, you don't need a fast car to win.

The first couple of years we had 10-15 cars and a lane of our own. Last year we had over 20 cars and took up 2 lanes in staging. It's a great event and seems to grow every year. You really need to consider showing. You won't be disapointed.

On top of the 20+ cars racing there are several members along with their freinds and family spectating. There are other events going on during the day so spectating can be fun for people who would like to be a part of the event, but don't race.

This is a family friendly event. Several members have children of their own, so as long as the kids have someone to keep an eye on them they are more than welcome.

Edited for easier comprehension.

Nice. When I saw East Coast, I thought it would be more centrally located, but it is in Oregon. I can't and won't get the car that far.
Hope it is a good time, seems like the past have been fun.

That is what threw me off. I was like sweet, I could make a trip mid U.S., but then I said Oregon, oh. The east coast deal threw me off.

Turned out to be a great event!!!!

We had 30 cars made up of GP's and Bonnevilles. Above and beyond that we had a couple of Monte's and a couple Impalas.

I made it to the semi finals this year and eliminated myself with a .005 red light. I've got a target on my back because the last 2 years I made it to the finals. One year placing 1st, the other placing 2nd..... Good fun, good people. We had participants from Canada, Arizona, California, etc..... I can't remember where everyone came from. We had a PDXCGP member fly in from Florida and race a rental car, that was one of the Impalas.

This will happen again the same time next year. If you have any feelings of traveling to the Pacific Northwest next summer, I highly encourage you to schedule this event into your plans.

Hey Bobby, let me know if this link works, and I can post some more of the 76 Monte if Clint doesn't get around to it. I'm not sure if these links are restricted to PDX members only:

Couple more of the Monte.

He's got a heck of a mod list, I'm sure Clint can tell you more about it. The short list is a crate 350 engine, cam, and lots of other upgrades.
