Does anyone here have a custom / coloured HUD (speed / rpms etc ) or have their dash trim painted?

I'm curious to see how it would look and if its challenging to do?

Also - Is painting the metal bars & ?engine mounts? easy or does it require a ton of work.

Just minor cosmetic questions for a modding noob =)

you can get different instrument panel overlays off ebay.

painting engine parts is easy. take them off, rough them up with sandpaper a bit and paint away.

Thats what a lot of people think. To each their own, the car probably isnt going to be red for long anyways, so the color is gonna change in there.

Well my car IS silver so i was leaning towards a nice galaxy silver dash. Is it possible to just paint that by yourself ? I'm sure it is.. and as for the 'dogbones' and diagonal bars, are they able to be painted when they're still bolted to the car ? or will is it fine to just take them off and sand / paint them.

you can paint them while on the car yeah, but you will have to mask a bunch of stuff off so you don't overspray...

taking off the support bars is 3 13mm bolts.

the dogbones require a 15mm wrench and a 15mm socket.

if your taking off both dogbones then make sure to park on a flat surface and use your e-brake. This will limit how far the motor will move back or forth. If you park on a hill, good luck getting the dogbones back in without doing alot of pulling on the motor to fit them back in their.

Hmm i might just leave them on lol .. thanks Hutch you've been a great help over the last few days. I seem to be having problems finding a can of VHT Niteshades .. people selling it on ebay claim they can't ship to Canada because its a Chemical.

/Sigh.

I would take them off lol, alot easier, faster and it will turn out much better.

As for Niteshades, I got my first can from ebay no problems, that's weird. You can probably find it cheaper locally, try a local aftermarket performance parts store, not CT or NAPA as they won't have it.

To be honest i'm not even sure if we HAVE a aftermarket store here, i'm almost sure we would be i'm not 100% sure.

Would primer be necessary to throw on it after sanding? I would assume so right?

It's not necessary but it's recommended. Just get some 80 grit paper, rough it up and make sure you get rid of ALL the rust bubbles if you have any. Then primer it. I always use a grey primer, I find it gives the color more depth. Then put on some coats of the paint you want and then put on lots of clear coat after.

Try asking on OQCGP for stores, I'm sure someone in that area would be able to tell ya.

Yeah i just looked @ that and it made me want to do it even more. Omg =D

Thats obviously an easy do-it-yourself project, would primer, probably grey, be necessary to make the paint hold?

DAMN THAST HOTT
