Front tire damaged beyond repair. Discount Tire didn't have my tire anywhere in TX. Shipping in from out of state. I'm limping around on the friggin spare until late next week. I had to remove my "PONTIAC" air dam because I was scrapping everwhere I went.
I'm soo sad... frown

Not permanent, just until my tire comes in.
Had to go to Discount because that's where I bought them so I got an adjusted price for the new one, about $60 off.

Yeah, not going fast. I've got my performance shift turned off.

Shortly after I bought the tires I ran over a bolt, about 4-5 inches long. I tried plugging it, but that didn't work, It still leaked. After about a year and a half I took it in and got the news. All this time I've been adding air to it about every other week.

Yeah, I had a bolt in my tire, too. We found it when we took the GP to get the KYBs put on. The tire was turned a bit where I had it parked and we walked by and noticed this .. thing stuck in the tire. Closer examination showed a bolt stuck in the tread, right in one of the channels, so it was wedged in there pretty good. Apparently it was stuck in there so tight that it wasn't leaking much, because my tire never seemed flat or anything, and the tire pressure light never came on.

That tire's old though; it's worn down to the warning colors. I'm just glad it wasn't the new one.

2fast! Me and my friends were sitting at a friend's house watching a guy across the street spraypaint his rims black. lol It's such a beautiful little old Civic Si with a carbon fiber hood and a coffee can exhaust. laugh

I've seen numerous times where people on here talk about a "low pressure" light with regards to tire pressure.

Is this standard on all models? I have yet to see it light on my car. Granted, I've only hit one nail, and I saw that it was flat before I started my car...

But if it is standard, how does it work? Is there a certain psi that trips the light?

Thanks.

Hm .. What kinda DIC do you have, UMfan? On the unfancy one, there's just a "Check tire pressure" section that lights up when the pressure in one or more tires is at a significantly different pressure than the others.

I don't know what other kind of DIC's there are, I just know mine. Are there photos/descriptions that tell about the different ones?

I figured that having a GTP with the HUD would give me pretty much all the bells and whistles when it came to DIC options.

Wonder if Canadian GTP has this option on the dash of his 2002 GTP.

That sucks Bobby. Start taking the bus. Don't drive that thing around on a doughnut. If you are going to do that you might as well get 3 more.

BOBBBBBYYYYY what are you doing!!!!!! Do you wanna destroy your differential? Get that friggin spare off that front tire and put it on the rear where it belongs.

This goes for everyone else out there. If you have to run the donut spare put it on the rear and use the good rear tire up front. The difference in tire speeds will tear our fragile differentials to heck and beyond. It' basically almost as bad as doing burnouts on a continous basis. The lucky part is your not pounding it with HP like you do when you do burnouts.

You know, sometimes it's the simple things that slip our minds, thanks for the reminder Herc. That wasn't anything I was thinking about.
I think I'm going to go buy a used tire at lunch today.

Technically at first, carbon fiber isn't high gloss. It's .. carbon fiber, that's all I can think of to describe it, but that stuff can have dangerously sharp edges .. They coat it when they use it for hoods and stuff. I'm sure it protects it more, though in my opinion it should just rot off, but uh .. I'll be off now. lol

Oh yeah, that was the same car that was spraypainting his wheels black. Now that's a sad sight.

Didja find a tire, Bobby?

I think Bobby should save his differential by putting a matching donut on the other front wheel. It would give his GP that "dragster" feel to it by lowering the front. wink

Ha funny you said that. A buddy of mine back in high school (yes I remember back that far) used donut spares to lower his VW bug. Now that was a sight.

Didn't get a chance to get one. I'm swapping the rear with the spare tonight.

Probably looked a lot like a Ford Festiva. Those have some of the smallest tires I have ever seen.
