okay so im STILL(yes i know i keep saying im going to) to remove my mufflers. i already have the resonator removed but would their be enought back pressure with no res and no muffler? I still have the u bend.

Yes there will but WHY!!!! It'll sound like garbage at anything over idle.

It will sound awful, but you do your thing. It will be fine.

If your stock mufflers are in good condition I'll buy them off you. Or I could trade you for my summit fully welded muffs. I'm sure once you hear how crappy it is w/o res or muffs you'll want something. :p

Don't waste time removing the mufflers, just unbolt the downpipe and drive around... who needs backpressure anyway?

Terrible idea. You will be made fun of, even by the ricers.

Make sure you have someone record your facial expression the first time the car is started. Then stand in the parking lot, and have one of yoru friends drive it out of the lot and into the street and accelerate normally. Have him come back and WOT accelerate. When he comes back, point him in the direction of the lift so the exhaust guy can weld your mufflers back on.

yeah its just a loud growl, its just loud. Lots of drone. I dont knwo but my friends monte carlo sound Bad@$$ with straigt pipes,(3.4 DOHC) i know the firing order is differnt but ya lol

Oh yeah, I have feel that sound before. I went to my local seller to get leather door panel from him. He start the car that very awful loud like nascar. I look under it and see nothing. It was special edition model with nice tip. I'm pretty sure he remove it off and swap them on his car.

Why not take the U-bend out instead of removing your muffs?

And it's a DOHC, and a completely different motor. My mom has a 5.4L Triton V8 that I cut the muffler off of, so my Grand Prix should sound the same, right?

when i went to go get mine done the yahoo who was doing it said he wouldnt do becuase it would mess with the oxygen sensor, i told him just do it, and yet he wouldnt.....but would it make THAT much of a difference

It will not affect your o2 sensor in the least. He would have to weld in a new o2 bung and put it sideways but it doesn't matter. That o2 does nothing except detect cat failure anyways.

I've got an O2 sim on mine since I installed the hi-flow cat it was throwing codes with the rear sensor hooked up.

trust me i had fm 40s, stock, and muffler-less, and the best sound comes from headers with stock catback...no mufflers set me back alot of power believe it or not, i went from a 14.6 to a 14.9 and had the same mods, just no muffs...and they sounded like crap above idle...

I'm going to go with not, no offense. No way is removing mufflers going to kill your time.

pointless post....if you like the sound with the muffs off do it....it obviously isnt the nicest sound and wake up one morning with a real bad hang over and drive it then decide if you want muffs back on
