I'm getting XM radio. I don't want to use the crummy FM modulator so I need to figure out a way to hardwire the thing into the system. My head unit is the single cd player with 7-band EQ. Anybody know how?

Which unit are you getting?
The Roady XT has a fairly decent modulator built in.

I got one of the cheaper units... Xpress by Audiovox? Anywya, the built-in modulator sucked, at least with the grand prix's hidden rear window antenna (even though normal FM reception is insanely good). Today I hooked up the optional wire that connects the car's FM antenna to the unit. MUCH better. I probably won't even bother hardwiring the audio now (though I found out it IS possible if you tinker around with the HU).
Now to enjoy XM for a while. So far I like the selection of rock and jazz. Stock tickers are cool, too!

Personally, I think the best way to go is to get a Sat ready HU and buy a tuner. That's why I bought my JVC (let alone the price and red display).

I take my XM unit in to work with me and I've got a home set up at my work area and I listen to it during the day.
I wouldn't be able to do that if my car HU was sat ready, but I did weight out the whole "XM ready HU" vs "ability to listen at work" and work won.
I know you can listen to it over the internet, but the internet XM doesn't offer their full selections. Internet XM only has music stations, no talk, no news, no Claire B. Lang.

The car is just about the only place I listen to music. If I'm at the 'puter, I just hit mtv.com.
