From Wikipedia:

Quote:
Brian (Paul Walker) is freed from prison, after being undercover, to help the feds stop a heroin importer known as Braga. With the help of an informant named James Park, Brian—and ultimately Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) wins a place on the criminal's team, where he and Toretto plan to catch the man red handed. This film also shows how Han met Toretto and how he got his car (shown at the end of Tokyo Drift)[citation needed] A teaser trailer for the film was released on the 25th August 2008, it depicts Dom and a few other cast members attempting to hijack tankers of gasoline within the Dominican Republic, it also reveals that the film will be released in the summer of 2009.
How did Walker get put in jail? The entire second movie was him doing the exact same thing to be set free. How many times are they going to throw him in jail, only to free him & have him drive for them?

Sounds like the plot is going to suck...but it wouldn't be the first F&F movie like that. lol

I wouldn't worry I doubt very highly that was an authentic GN. Probably started life as a generic regal.

I think the Muscle Car on Spike TV had one of the movie cars on as well as another show. They hack the mess out of them and they were basically pretty outer shells. I doubt they went out their way to get actual GNs . Doubt if GN owners would turn them over.

Well, it may get damaged. Maybe I should take an average car instead. Nah, its a heist with semis going at highway speeds. It'll be fine. What could go wrong?"

I wanted to own a Grand National or a Syclone but I started picturing a Charles Xavier looking guy showing up to my house saying "Join others like you who own a Grand National. You cannot hide from your family. You are one of us. We now course through veins. Your blood is now our blood. You cannot escape your destiny. Join us."

When I say "no", I imagined getting constant calls where they keep asking, them showing up to my job, following me, the car's headlights slowly coming on when they're close by, etc.

Yea, maybe I'm just being silly.

BTW, found this GN commerical. Very 80s but actually pretty good!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeZQs1oi5cs

EDIT: I think George Thorogood sang this too. The song came out only a few years prior to this commercial.

For as rare as the GNs were now adays I question authenticity. It's way to easy to rebadge.

But I'd really rather have a Typhoon.

Uh...how easy would it be to mix the sound in after production? Very. Most of the sounds you hear weren't actually recorded then. That's why the cars in those movies are ALWAYS accelerating.

Just cause it has a turbo doesn't mean it's authentic. How many GTs on here have top swaps? Does that make them authentic GTPs?

well how easy is it to find all the turbo parts/kits for GN i have never looked so i dont know but top swaps for gtps would be easy look at production numbers they made tons of se gt and gtp grand prix over the few GN that they have made

Bet real money its a re-badged, re-painted regal with pre-recorded sound. Placing in a real GN where you can get the exact same effects with a junkyard regal would be a poor financial decision. They have to use probably 2-4 of these cars for this scene and maybe more if it appears in the movie more often. If the movie is a success, they will tote a GN around to tours and say it was used in the movie even though it was just used for scenes where the car was parked.

It is funny how movies place in engine acceleration sound just so its more dramatic, even though the car is going at a steady 70-80 MPH.
