the 1979 model had the shaker hood...and to be truthful when I went looking for a car after I gave the Lumina to my stepdaughter I was fully focused on buying another Firebird...but after much shopping and looking I grew frustrated over prices and the Bird's tight confines of comfort. Then one day I test drove a dark metallic blue 1999 GP GT and I was bitten. Here was a car that had all the sporty flavor of the Bird, striking good looks, plentiful room and comfort, lots of nice power toys (a real trunk) and a lot of bang for the buck. That one got sold before I could get myself together but I ran across the T-Bat on the way home from work one afternoon. I had looked at a black GTP just a few days before but we couldnt agree on price. At the time the GT was the same model year, lower miles and almost $4k cheaper. I pitched a price and he took it with no complaint...and it was the begininng of the most lasting "car relationship" I've ever had.
I guess it would be fair to say that I have emotionally imprinted my fond memory of my Trans Am from days gone by...but if I ever get the T-Bat the way I see it in my mind it will be a much nicer car than the Bird ever was. laugh cool

(please excuse the momentary hi-jack)

1990 blue grand am - no power steering, radio, parking brake didn't work (had fun with my friend on that), my friend let me have it for about 6 months, he kept it primary to keep the insurance lower on his 95 t/a
1987 ford tempo(d.a.l. dies a lot) - bought it from my dad's aunt with 17K miles (she pretty much drove it to church and the grocery store). Comfortable, but 3 speed auto felt like it was gonna explode on the highway over 75 mph, and it died all the time. Needed something better for highway driving before I left for college
1989 red firebird (the red dragon)- bought it with 103K, got great mileage for a 305 tbi auto (as much as 29 highway once on a trip back to school), lots of personality, my friends all called it the red dragon once the movie old school came it, and it stuck. After it got to about 150K, it was time for something newer, and I had wanted a gtp or newer t/a for awhile, and thought a gtp would be better for year round driving
1999 black gtp (the dark knight) - love this car, can't wait to start modding, hopefully saving for my wedding won't totally blow my plans!!!

1988 Ford Festiva...hand me down from baas140. Beat the crap out of it and it lasted forever.
1995 nissan altima...got it on a "hail sale". Lets just say, it wasnt pretty but it was a high school car. The rear frame finally rusted out completely.
2001 GT...I will keep this one for a long time.
