Downtown area gets a few nasty storms a year like any other city, but I live 50 minutes east in Lake County, where "lake effect snow" was invented (so we get consistantly hammered with snow from the lake evap till it freezes completely).

lake effect = zuul's first picture.

basically, people who live around lakes and large bodies of water get hammered with alot of precipitation because the sun evaps alot of the water and then it condenses and comes down on them.

Wow man, looks likte the snow storm we had last year. I remember all too well "lake effect". I grew up in Ohio right by Lakes Erie and Michigan. It gets crazy up there. I heard you guys are expecting about a foot more in the next few days.

Should be getting around 10 inches by the time the snow stops tomorrow. There is probably 6 inches or so outside now. I've already gone out once to clear what has fallen.

My dad lives two miles east of Lake Michigan. He gets hit with lake effect all the time. Last week, after all the snow melted here due to a few days in the 50's, he still had 8-10 inches on his lawn.

Yeah, SE Michigan got a decent amount tonight. Sucked to driving home from work in it.

My grandma and aunt live in Buffalo. They get crazy amounts of snow there.

That sucks! I remember harsh winters from back in MO, but this winter has been awesome down here in South Carolina. The lowest temps I've seen are in the 40's, and no snow.

Now if we can get some water so the outside water ban would be lifted I can get a good cleaning on my car.
