this scared the crap out of me, i know this probably wont stop anyone who street races but im done with racing on the street

well i wrecked my first car and it wasent even mine

this kid i know has a 99 turbo(cartuning) GP gt (his name is chris) and he as saying how fast it was and blablabla 750 hp 10 second car...yadayada
well my friend Andrew(stock 98 Z28 LS1 stick shift) and i were tired of hearing all this BS, so we decided to make the kid put his money where his mouth is.
long story short we set up a $50 race 30-90 at 1 in the morning so there would be no traffic.
andrew put me in his car because i have more experience racing and i can rip a gear pretty damn good ( i had one rule only me in the car when i race in case something happens)

i gave the GP the jump
i was in 1st and as soon as the gp hit the third honk i nailed it,
the tires stated spinning right away but i ripped second gear
it hooked back up right away in second and i was already 1.5-2 cars ahead
at about 60 it started to spin again but i kept my foot in it because it wasn't that bad and i wasn't going to lose.
got to about 90 and let off the gas and the rear of the car came around on me.
i spun it down the road twice and almost had it caught back up when the car snapped back the other way
i ended up hitting the curb and sliding through some grass missed a light pole by about 2 feet
killed his new ZR1 vette wheels and his breaks go to the floor now,
he wasent mad just glad i was ok,
his first question as are you ok, then "did you win"
so the repairs cost around $600

long story short
raced, crashed, cost me $600
but i won and got the $50 smile

but i am done racing on the street

i do have to be thankful though no one got hurt, no insurance going up and no Cops.

i never thought it could happen to me, till it did.
thats when it really sinks in.

i just wanted to say i am a dumbass for doing that and its not going to happen again ever

Glad your OK, but why would you race a car flat out you are not familiar with? It took me a long time to get launch & shifting down to an art with my Chevelle & my 5.0 Mustang. IIRC 45, 65 and 95 are the shift speeds in a stock LS1 car, so completely coming off the gas at 90 let the engine brake hard and there was probably road sand & salt that caused the tires to slip, then grip causing the spin.

Good thing we don't have to worry about our tail ends sliding out from under us in GPs.

Glad you're alright.

actually i have a lot of experience in that car. i use to race it with him in the car a lot, idk if i hit water or dirt or what happened but i did panic and let off the gas a little 2 quickly instead of rolling out of the throttle since i was already drifting back and forth.
goes to show you can know a car very well and still have some unforeseen factor mess up your day

but now i might actualy buy the car smile he just bought a new 07 Milan today so he wants to sell the car $1500 bucks with 4 stock wheels 4 aftermarket 1 spare, and the 2 good ones that are on it, new front fascia, new rear end with 373 gears and 2 new back break rotors
i figure with 14?,??? miles on it i could get it looking good and clean it up really good, pop a few dents and make a profit on it

I own a 98 V6. That car wants to throw the tail out as often as it can. Surprises me all the time. Beautiful car. So, the ZR-1 rims from the C6 will bolt right up, then? Hmmm...Also, if you buy the car, look up www.ls1tech.com. It's HUGE for pretty much all F-Bodies.

Glad that you learned to not be retarded anymore, but it sounds like you had mitigated as much risk and irresponsibility allows. Really glad that you're alright and no one else was hurt.

Good kill, btw. Sliding across the finish line always adds a bit of flair to the victory.

when your back end is sliding, the worst thing you can do is decelerate. should have got back on the throttle to regain your rear traction.

i have had a few close calls myself from street racing, from people pulling out in front me to having to out run the cops cuz they clocked me at 85 in a 35 from racing someone. so yea its not worth it, if someone wants to race, take it to the track. u will be glad u did.

lol. Since when? Ask anyone who traps real high what happens when they get out of it and decelerate.

I'm glad you decide stop doing that in street racing.

If I want to race then drag track will be place that I will use. It has safe wall and hospital van near by if someone crash.

BTW good kill wink
