Hi, this is a personal favor.

As many of you know, i'm not a native english speaker (i studied it for 3 years, 13 years ago) and i want to improve what i know.
So please anytime you notice a mistake on my spelling or grammar or whatever please, if you have the time, let me know.

Thanks

I've been curious about this for some time now...are you typing in spanish and the board translates...or are you typing in english to the best of your ability?...if its just you doing it then my hat is off to you my friend...I took a year of spanish ages ago in high school, but if I had to type messages in espanol then I would be in deep doggie-doo.

I'm typing directly in english,
but sometimes is hard for me to find the correct words, basically cause even in spanish i don't know much about mechanics and besides that there are some difference between lessons in a school and the "true live" speaking of you.
When you use some kind of slang or even jokes, becomes very hard for me to follow.

Thanks TBat.

English is a very difficult language to learn. I took three years of spanish in high school and found the mechanics of it to make quite a bit more sense than English mechanics. lol Your english is pretty good Alex, I've only really ever noticed tiny things, little mistakes than anyone could make, English speaking or not.

Did you teach yourself or did you take classes? I bet your job requires a bit of English? laugh

Thanks Arc!!
I took classes.

My job at the moment requires just a little bit of english, that's why i try to study watching "LOST" with the SAP mode i mean in english, and posting here every issue with my car, that's been a lot of practice... lol

One thing I have noticed above Alex is you tend to leave out it in some places where it belongs, not a big deal but other than that you type pretty well for someone who doesn't speak English everyday!

I am taking Spanish right now, I am in the second year, and I could not understand anything.

My hat is off to you alex, it is very difficult to learn a second language.

I will correct you whenever i see any problems.

I would correct but when it comes to rules and punctuation I suck. I would be afraid of giving out bad information and looking even dumber then I am.

I think that what he is trying to say is this:

Sometimes you leave out the word "it" when you type.

"leave out" means "to omit" something. Do you know that word?

um...it means that you do not include the word "it" in some places where it should be used. It is a very minor thing, but it would make your writing that much better.

Wow, that is kind of confusing isn't it?

Alex, is your english good enough that you can speak it?

When I learned spanish i didn't really have any problems with the language, but I couldn't think fast enough to actually speak. I was much better with writing.

Yes i can speak it, but i need some time to start thinking fast, i mean if right now i start to speak it would be very paused, but when a friend of mine cames here from Boston i could improve the level, but not too much, i need a lot of practice speaking it!

I went sometime to Waterloo Canada, then to Toronto and to the Niagara Falls. It was a business trip and they were people from Boston, New York, Texas, Waterloo, and San Francisco, you do not have an idea of how much it costs to understand their different accents...

Yeah sorry to confuse you earlier man, actually your english is better than most english speakers on most boards. Your english is very proper most of the time as well makes you sound more intelligent than most, of course I am from Kentucky so my advice isn't the best, I can barly speak English myself!

Alex, to make your english less proper, I suggest using contractions:
"It is" >>>> "It's"

and to pretend your from the south end of the states:
"you all" >>> "ya'll"

Ok.
Do I "sound" too proper sometimes?
Those tips are important too, Thanks!!

Most of the time you come across just like everyone else but every now and then you come across a little more proper. It is probably just becuase you were actually taught english and follow some of the obscure rules in everyday speech that most people ignore unless they are writing formal papers.

So now that you learned good english, we are teaching you slang.

I haven't noticed that you sounded "too" proper.

Out of boredom, I ran across this site, supposed to be american slang:
http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Egenepool/amerispeak.htm

Truthfully, I haven't heard most of the things on there, but usually can figure them out. Maybe I'm in the dark cause I live in Ohio.
