Anyone like more unique beers? I have never really liked it until I got my hands on Samuel Adams. Right now I'm drinking a Scotch Ale (pretty good). I've got a sampler pack that came with:

-Scotch Ale
-Boston Ale
-Brown Ale
-Boston Lager
-Black Lager
-Honey Porter

I've also tried their Cream Stout and Cherry Wheat. Definately good stuff I'd recommend to anyone, although the darker brews take some getting used to. Anyone else prefer the different varieties over the standard run of the mill stuff?

My favorite is an Amber Ale from New Belgium Brewery called "Fat Tire".
I like Guiness, but it's got to be draft, I'm not a fan of the bottled or canned Guiness.

The samuel adams sampler is great.
I generally drink regular and light beers but I completely agree with you -- sam adams is good stuff.

Theres a brewery close to me called Great Lakes Brewing Company (http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com) that is very popular around here. They're pretty dark beers. I'm wondering if Great Lakes Brewing Co beer is sold elsewhere? Anybody seen it? All the major stores in NE seem to have it here.

Sorry crimpton, I don't like guiness (from tap is all I've had of it). It reminds me of old tranny fluid, used oil, grime, and maybe some used M90 oil all mixed together. Suite yourself though! laugh

On the beer topic, does anybody else love Blue Moon?

I'm with Crimpton, Fat Tire is a favorite out here. Same with "Mirror Pond" by the same brewery.

Oregon has TONS of really great microbrews and it's one of my favorite parts about living out here. I rarely drink Bud Light or anything of that nature anymore.

My favorite is just about anything from the Rogue Brewery. I hear you can find Rogue's Dead Guy Ale and some others all the way in Michigan now. I drive to the coast at least once a month and drink a few brews from the Rogue brewery tap. Nothing beats it.

EDIT: I also like Blue Heron and Widmer Bros Heffeweizen. But I think those are local to Oregon.

Pretty much I stick with Amber Ales and Pale Ales.

If I'm buying beer for the house for me after work I'll buy Sam Adams. If I'm having a party Miller light lol.

My favorite Sam Adams is the Black Lager. I enjoy Guinnes but it does have to be out of a tap. I here they have a new can with a CO2 cartridge in it that makes it just like out of the tap. Guiness was hard for me to drink at first as well but after drinking darker and darker and thicker and thicker beers it became no problem.

I've had some Fat Tire and enjoy some of there brews.

We have a micro brew here in town and I really don't care for any of they're recipes.

When ever I go on a mission I'll have what ever local brew the bar/restaraunt has on tap.

I've found so many micros that I like it's hard to pick a favorite.

I'll stick to my homebrew along with the varied good things you can find around. Rogue, New Belgium, Unibroue, etc all brew good beers.

Only problem with my tastes is that it can eat a hole in your wallet if you're not careful... Just one of the reasons not to drink too much...

You have to acquire the taste. Simple as that. I'm fairly new to drinking beer myself, as I used to not touch the stuff. Now I enjoy having one every now and then.

I think this thread has formed me a new shopping list next time I'm out shopping. cheers

If you want something different.

The wife and I loved this stuff.

Samuel Adams® Chocolate Bock

Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is a revolutionary masterpiece new to the beer world. Beer and chocolate have been combined to form a unique brew that is perfect for special occasions and is launching just in time for the 2004/2005 Holiday season. Made with an exclusive blend of Scharffen Berger chocolate, this dark beer has a big, malty character with a complex full-body taste and velvety finish. Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock uses the world’s finest ingredients, including cocoa beans from Ghana, which enhance its aroma and flavor. A hint of vanilla was also added to help meld the symphony of flavors.

This unique, new brew has already received seven awards internationally to date, including the Gold Medal at the Australia International Beer Awards in Melbourne; the Gold Medal at the Brewing Industry International Awards in London; Monde Selection’s Gold Medal; the Gold Medal from the North American Brewers Association; a Silver Medal at the World Beer Cup in San Diego; and a Regional Championship title at the United States Beer Tasting Championships.

Packaged in a 750 ml amber bottle with a specially embossed pewter label, Samuel Adams is brewing this beer only as a limited-edition Holiday release. Chocolate Bock is the perfect accompaniment to any special meal or can be served as a dessert by itself. It is especially good when paired with hearty foods like roasted chicken, cheesecake or even fresh fruit.

Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is rolling out nationwide in November 2004 for a suggested retail price of $14.99.

Is that $14.99 each?

BTW, I'm trying to get my hands on some Sam Adams Utopias, just to try it.
