Try pawn stores. Do a search online.
I think some require them to have certain specifications.
So that means it gets pricey.

All dragstrips will require long pants and closed-toe shoes. Usually require at LEAST a t-shirt, if not a long-sleeve t-shirt.

Great Lakes Dragaway requires all drivers that run a 13.99 or better to wear a helmet.

10.99 or better requires a roll cage.

The harmonic balancer falls in there somewhere, but I think that's at like the 500hp area and is only required for official racing.

Also, driving style isn't going to give you the 500 more horsepower you'll need to run a 9 second quarter mile. wink

Unless the track specifies snell I'd opt out of it. Here's why. It's a long read but very good info.

Good info to know for safety, but I was speaking more on the fact that if you go to other tracks, etc. All the ones around here require it, so I assume many others do (all SCCA stuff?). Just keeping him from buying a non-snell helmet when theres a good chance he'll need to.
