I was curious that part # for how much it cost like I saw thread about special edition.

When I find website that have part #

Driver Side Roof Rails for '00 Daytona 500 Pace Car 88894528
Passenger Side Roof Rails for '00 Daytona 500 Pace Car 88894770

When I typed that # in gm direct part. They switch the number.

Part number 88894528 was superseded by part number 12336037. 88894770 to 12336036 too.

It say "molding" so that's mean that roof rail is no longer or they just change old number to new number?

No, I'm not going buy them. I just asking if they are same part that website. I keep wonder why they say "molding" when I enter roof rail # but switch to other # and say "molding".

Anyway this new number is not roof rail. I called them so it is not that one. I'm not sure why they switch to current # if they are not selling anymore. It should say discontinued or something.

I thought maybe it might help for everyone who want roof rail. I know lot of people like this.

I remember that but I don't know why they stop. I think it gotta be like 40 people around want this set. I want that too but I finally saw real daytona 500 car last Thursday. I look close. It is kind okay to me so I kind up and down for this. Since they don't make it so I'm not going worry about that.

I took that picture of this person car before battery died. Lucky I have two photo but I doubt this car is belong any forum.

Is 40 people worth maintaining a production line for? Esp. since it's a part that should last a long long time?

lol I don't know how exact people want this. I just guess it gotta be around 40 on any message board. I have read some thread at clubgp.com. They are upset some roof rail on ebays cost too much. If it is USA for 50 states. I bet it gotta be like umm 2,000 people want this? lol

They still make them but because of an ordering mixup only one side is available through parts dealers and dealerships. They have enormous quantities of one of the sides but none of the other which is what's making the sets so valuable.

No wonder. Thanks for info. I can't imagine what if daytona or 40th anniv. have roof damage by like umm tree or crazy people use hammer to dent them. Dealership: Sorry, we don't make it anymore.

My Daytona didn't come with them.

Personally I don't care for them. Now if I had all the track vinyls and strobe lights to go with the the roof rails that would be different or if I was trying to replicate an actual GP used in racing it would be different but...

I know your car is 98. I don't think black roof rail look good on your car. I know silver or black look good. I'm talking about 2000 Daytona 500 or 40th anniv either.

That's true but I'm big nascar fan. I used remember nascar have roof rail before. I think it might be nice on my car but of course it won't happen anyway.

I went to dealership and ask him to check it out for 88894528 & 88894770. They are not found on dealership computer. That's true since I was there with him. He know what I'm talking about Daytona 500 pace car. They don't make that anymore. I ask him why this part 88894528 to 12336037? He checked 12336037 & 12336036. That's really normal stock roof rail. Daytona 500 or 40th anniv. owner better be careful not damage this roof rail or they won't replace.

That's explain why someone try bid this roof rail for lot of money when dealership don't make them.
