hi
I'm gonna pickup my new to me 06 grand prix gxp Thursday morning [7/2/09] what simple upgrades are out there for them? i see cheap intakes on ebay anybody ever use them? after the warranty is up i plan on exhaust work and a "chip" it's been 30 years since I've had any type of muscle car so go ez on me. 69 camaro ss396 375 hp with a 4 speed 70 road runner 440 4 speed and a 73 challenger 340 automatic [wife's car] smile

I wouldn't cheap out on one of those intakes.

Your best bet would be to get one from a good brand like K&N or AEM

The cheap intakes just make you injest 200 degree air killing performance. Like said, stick with K&N or another good brand that has heat shielding.

Those "chips" are junk too. Either get a modified PCM or find a local dyno tuner and they can do wonders for you. Of course do this after all your mods.

You can legally change exhaust after the catalytic converter with no warranty issues. I had the dealer swap my cat back system from my 2001 to my brand new 2004 as part of my sale.

Slap a set of magnaflow or dynomax ultra flow mufflers on that V8 and let it sing.

Go with the K&N 63 series for the 5.3L V8, put mine in saturday and it breathes so much better.
Low end torque and increase in mpg by 1.25.
