First of all I've got to thank Brian for letting me come out a check out his new ride.
It's a beautiful car.
Plenty of power, Brian took me for a littlw ride and he floored it going down the road. I couldn't believe how much it sunk me into the seat, very nice.
Sounds nice and rumbly, but I think I would still want a set of flowmasters on it.
Upgraded DIC seems to have very good info, it shows G-force and some other info the 97-03's don't have.
Tire size is a little odd, 255's up front, don't remember what the rears are, 235's? Can't rotate your tires on this car. I gotta give a big thumbs down to GM for putting a can of fix-a-flat in the trunk to be used as the spare, No spare = no jack.
Seats are very comfortable, nicer feel to them than the 97-03's.
I could go on and on, but overall, it's a very nice car, I'm really going to hate to see this car discontinued.

I was wondering the same thing. Using 2 sets of front wheels on 97-03's would be sweet.
I'm sure they cost your first 2 kids, and family dog.

sweet looking ride and I love the factory drilled rotors...you mentioned different sized tires...255s up front...235 or something out back...does it have smaller back tires than the front?...I know its FWD and packing some ponies but that just sounds weird.

Yes, I think the rears are actually 245's, but different width wheels up front than in the rear.

Tires, P255/45R18 front, P225/50R18, rear
Both are W rated.

The rims are 18"x8" front and 18"x7" rear so I assume that if you want to replace your GT/GTP rims you would need to order 4 rear rims of the GXP.

no spare tire??? what a shame confused . did you look inside the trunk to see if its roomier then our gp`s.

fix a flat will not help if the side wall is busted.

great lookin though and i LOVE the side vents ala the 70`s T/A.

congrats Brian. i give it four hammer

The trunk is the same size since it's the same body panel with the tire well and cover like all GP's. I just have the fix-a-flat and compressor. I guess there is more room since I put some tools and more fix-a-flat in the spare tire well in case I get two flats.

The owner's manual says sidewall blowouts are very rare. Anyway I guess with pontiac roadside and onstar, I could call both to see who gets there first.

It has been just over 30 years (summer 1974) since I had a sidewall failure. On a Goodyear Polyglass.

I calculate that is almost half a million miles of my driving . . .

I noticed you have your car in front Bobby :p .

The wider fronts than rears have been much discussed in the "other" board, and the reasons are very sound. It allows the heavier front to grip "better" than the lighter rear and neutralizes the handling. I'm sure you can find the scientific explanation over there.

Not in front, in the lead maybe.
I wanted Brians car to be the main focus of attention. I just wanted mine in the back ground.
I had Brian pull up past my driver door so his car would cover my dent in the door.

this is just a personal opinion of course...but I watched a piece on the speed channel this past weekend where they spotlighted both the GXP and the GTO...I just couldnt help but be sad...it seems to me that Pontiac (and a few others) are making huge strides in the hardware dept...better engines and drivetrains than we've had in years...and as much as the underskin goodies have gotten better, the styling is slowly sliding downhill...the GTo looks better than it did but its still lacking the pizazz...I needed to warm to the new GP back in 04, especially since there was no coupe...but the restyle of the front fascia on the GXP reeks of the old BMW "horse collar" grille...dont get me wrong, its a potent machine for sure but I just wish I had the drivetrain under the hood of my 01.
