I have 2300 miles on my latest Grand Prix, mileage is about 24 on the highway, 16-18 around town or 10 depending on how it's driven. I had a 2002 GTP and the difference is like night and day. This car rocks, and suprises anyone who tries to race it, including factory riceburners.
It's not cheap to own, just check out the price of tires, but I have to say, this is one great car.

The only problem I've had to date is that the front main seal was torn and began leaking @ 100 miles. It took them part of the morning to replace it, otherwise, no other issues.

They built a really fun one this time. Anyone else have anything to add?

Totally agree. I had a V6 Firebird (that was the only sports car I had) and I had really wanted the new GXP -- my mother in law has a 04 GTP and loves it. I had a Buick (used --- suuuuucked) and when that died next year, I told my wife i want the GXP -- well, it died about two months ago. So the GXP is in the driveway! Awesome car!

The only issue I do have with it (and it's fully loaded -- DVD nav, touchscreen) is that the sunroof is REALLY loud with wind noise. Any complaints about this? There's no wind deflector like on the 04 model GTP.

You can get an aftermarket wind deflector that can fit.

i would believe so considering it has a V8 instead of the supercharged 3.8.

Just because A GXP has more HP & TQ then a GTP does'nt mean anything...for example A '93 Mazda Rx-7 has 255 WHP w/ 280 TQ and a 2002 Camaro SS has 325 WHP w/ 340 TQ...(a 1.3 rotary vs. a LS1 V8) now keeping in mind that both cars are "bone stock", The Camaro will never be able to keep up with the Rx-7 whether It is a Course or a Strip. Whether it is a top speed race or a 1/8 mile the camaro wont be able to handle it as well as the Rx-7. There are too many things to take into consideration. I guess the best way find out is to find a GXP and race it!

Unfairly compared.
A 93 Mazda RX-7 weight a whole lot less than an 02 Camaro. It's a "power ot weight" ratio.

A 93 RX-7 has 255HP at the crank, not at the wheels, and that's via a twin-sequential turbo charged rotory engine

The Camaro SS is also rated at 325HP at the crank, not at the wheels.

Anytime HP is mentioned about a certain car, it's crank horsepower, unless Wheel HP is specified.

I checked both specs on the car before I posted just to make sure I wasnt going to make an ass out of myself. The sites I checked had HP posted from the wheels. And I know that the Rx-7 is based from the wheels because I have 3 of them, not all 3rd gens. though. I race 2 of 3 and have worked around them for a while, I think I know. anyways...I did realize that it is very unfair I wanted to make a point by using something from experiance. I just wanted to make the point. LIke I said I guess the best way is to race one...I just cant find one!!! Is anyone in my area that would like to run my GTP?

Yeah I would think GXP is faster than a GTP because of the 5.3 V8 engine, but only if they made grand prixs in rwd, then it would be a beast.(lol)

Taken from MSN Autos section:

1993 Mazda RX-7
Standard Engine 1.3L 255 hp R0
Horsepower 255
Torque (lb-ft) 217

Per previous post, the HP will be to the crank not to the wheel. HP ratings from manufacturers and what not always state the HP to the crank. You must take into account that that you should get an average loss of 18% to 22% decrease when the HP comes from the wheel. Don't believe. Dyno it and post up the numbers.

I think between a GTP and GXP, assuming they are both stock, they are roughly the same weight and traction isnt a problem then the GXP should come out with a slight edge. The strong torque and power delivery of the LS3, plus the meaty front tires should give the GXP a good holeshot. I think the GTP would close the gap as they reached trap speed but not enough to pull it out.I also know I'd love to put the GXP engine/tranny in my 01 coupe hammer

According to C&D:

GTP 0-60: 6.6 sec. 1/4 mile 15.0 sec @93MPH
GXP 0-60: 5.7 sec. 1/4 mile 14.3 sec @98MPH

You can read their road test of the GXP at:
