Hello again everyone,

I was searching for a GP but couldn't find anything in good conditions, GP's seem to be extinguished here in Mexico. So i took another way i've always liked, a Silverado SUV 97, it is very sharp, just have to do something with front suspension or direction don´t know yet, but I have to correct the steering all time, is hard to keep it straight, opinions would be helpful. Here´s my new baby.

Regards

just get an alignment done, that should solve your problems. Thats not a bad looking truck either, nice purchase!

Have the tie rod ends, pitman arm and idler arm changed that will cure your issues.

Nice truck. I have a 98 Pickup.

That front end is from a GMC. Not sure if they sell GMC in Mexico. In the states GMC has that big open grill where Chevrolet had a fat bar going across from side to side splitting the headlights from the parking/turn signals.

What motor is that? It doesn't look like a Vortec 5700.

Hi Herc,

It is a V8 5.7 TBI, with around 80k miles in fact i was looking for a Vortec, but some silverados´i saw were crap, this one is in very good shape and the owner showed me another he has with the vortec engine, he says that in fact the gas saving is not that much, could it be?
In Mexico GMC entered as the Truck division like 4 or 5 years ago, we always know about GMC but Chevrolet was the name here.
Herc, what can you tell me about this truck, reliability, performance, mileage, I've read something but you have this truck for a while right?
Is there this Kind of Silverado in USA, I've just find the Tahoe or the Yukon 4X4 but not this 4X2 SIlverado.

Here in the US your truck would be called a GMC Yukon. The only difference between the Tahoe and Yukon is the front grill. Really no noticable difference in MPGs between the motors but the Vortec makes a tad more power. As for reliability these things run forever. The one issue that seems to rear it's ugly head is fuel pumps tend to go bad. Otherwise with regular upkeep not many issues. In town you can expect 12-13 mpg on the highway depending on what rear gear it has you could get as high as 18. Performance wise your not going to win any races. However there is a ton of aftermarket upgrades available for those TBI engines.

I've had my truck for over 10 years now.

Well I took it to the mechanic and everithing s ok, he told me to buy new struts but i didn´t believe him, he just wanted to get my money. Maybe it is how this truck with 295/55/15 wheels shold feel. Thankas as usually. Good to see you.

It probably does need new shocks. I go through a set about every four years or so.

Ohhh as for those 295/55/15s I'd get rid of them. 31x10.5/15s look good and 32x11.5/15s fit with a mild lift. Otherwise they will tend to rub when pushed to the limits of suspension travel.

Ey Richard,

I sold the Solstice to buy a Nissan Murano remember?, then I saddly got divorced frown and since I sold my GP and my bike (remember the suzuki intruder?) I just had this VW Jetta from work, then I got fired, It took me 9 months to find a new Job, and I started 3 weeks ago. Anyway I am a father now and my baby Mateo makes me so happy. This is Mateo.

Herc, I'm really thinking in change those wheels, but I need to pay some stuff before that. I look into USA and I saw this z71 edition that looks great, maybe I´ll go that way.

cant say as I remember the Murano, but for some reason the Jetta seems familiar for some reason. Congrats on your son, and happy birthday to him! How old is tu nino?

my baby girl is turning 6 in less than a month, and is doing REALLY well. My lil homie is going to turn 5 in November and is doing well, but is resisting the whole potty training thing. Still. My wife seems to be done with her on-line courses and should be going to school on-campus and finishing her Paralegal degree within a year. The Army is...well...the Army. 6 years until retirement, not that I'm counting or anything LOL.
