I can't remember the code, but it was cyl 5 misfiring on the Camaro.

So, with SlickGTP's help, we decided that it was a bad wire.

I replaced that and still had a misfire, so I decided that it was a bad plug.

I replaced that and still had a misfire. Continuing on with my troubleshooting, I decided to replace the coil pack with another one I had laying around.

When I yanked the bad one, I found plenty of corrosion on the blades and terminals under there.

I used vinegar on the coil pack and am using baking soda and water on the blades of the ICM.

Now that it's been rinsed, I'm letting it all dry.

After I'm confident that all's dry, I'm going to plug it all in and see what the score is.

Use a compressor with water trap and quicken the dry time.

well, after waiting a while to dry by air (since I didn't have the other tricks), I pieced it all back together, and she now has 0 misfires. When I replace all plugs and wires later this week, I'm thinking about putting my old coil pack back on, just for poops and grins.

BlackArrow: I wish I could, but I don't have any right now. I'll grab some when I do the plugs and wires.

Glad you got the misfire fixed, Rick! Next time you need to dry out something quick, a can of 3M Dust Remover works well. cool

dude! shoulda remembered that! We had to do that for cleaning some stuff in Afg. True, we had to compromise on the can for NVGs or wet circuits. Oh well. I had plenty of time to burn this afternoon, so all's well!
