i just put 2000 kilometers on my brand new, use grand prix.. i just let my grandpa take it out for a test ride, he really loved everything about it, but he quickly noticed that my tranny was slippin at high rpm (hes got a heavy foot),so we get back to his place.. he checks the tranny oil and there wasnt enough oil to reach where is says "add". Could this have done alot of damage an the reason why my tranny slips? And what kind of tranny oil should i put..i got royal purple oil in the motor so i was thinking about putting the same stuff in my tranny?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

yes, your slippage is very likely from low oil level. yes, you're likely to have some tranny damage from running low and hot like that. If the Royal Purple stuff is Dexron-compliant, I can't see the big deal, but let's wait for someone else to confirm that.

Sorry that I didn't respond sooner, I've been NASTY busy at work the last week.

It really depends on how low you are on tranny fluid.

2 quarts low? That's a BUNCH of fluid missing. Good luck with your ride being ok, man.

ok. so i put the right amount of tranny fluid and it got worse. i just took it to the tranny shop and he said it wasnt my tranny its either the fuel filter if full of grab or my cat is full of grab..(i pray thats what it is!!)but to me that didnt make sense, so im seing someone else to get it checked out!
what do you guys think?

I would change the fuel filter ASAP. Who knows if that thing was ever replaced.

Hopefully it is something silly like the fuel filter.

Did you replace the plugs and wires? I had issues before with a bad wire (it only gave me problems when I would use my lead foot).

After that, seriously look into buying a downpipe with u-bend delete and hi-flow cat. The 304 Stainless Steel version is more expensive, but will last the life of car (or longer).

I bought mine from ZZP. If you get one, buy the bolt on version. You can swap it in your driveway or garage.

Good luck!
