During a moderate snow fall I was using my wipers, then turned them off. Now when they're in the off position they do a cycle then stop almost at their peak, vertically. Ive tried forcing them down to the off position and they wont budge.

Whats going on here? Where should I start?

There's a metal tab on the wiper motor assembly that gets bent out of shape, here's the fix: wipers stop in upright position (Scroll down for pics)

Be careful not to break the tab off, and never force the wipers down, or you'll be replacing the wiper motor and transmission assembly.

Glad to help, just keep in mind that wipers are meant for rain, and not snow. Always clear away snow with a brush, and make sure the wipers aren't frozen to the windshield. It helps to have your defroster in working order as well. wink

During the winter months, my weapon of choice has been this: Arctic Plow Snow Rake

Works great, and the handle clips to the foam head for storage. cool

When I lived in Maine we'd always prop the wipers off the window so they wouldn't freeze to the window. The truck was easy since they were spring loaded and would hold them selves up. The GP I had a small piece of plastic I'd put between the wiper arm and the cowl to hold it off the glass.

I'm having this problem but my push screws will not come off. I've loosened them all the way and tried to rip, pry, dislodge them with no success. Is there a certain technique?

Also, my windshield wiper will not come off. I sprayed some PB blaster on there but it doesnt seem to help. Any suggestions for either of these problems?

If I could manage to get the arms off, I could try to carefully pull up on the cover in the region of the push screw. None of it is working for me though.

Passenger is giving me trouble too. I looked at the instruction link. The photo of that blade seems to have a gap between the hole on the arm and the bolt. My bolt threads seem so fat and snug against the hole of the arm it doesn't seem like its gonna work.... still waiting to see what the PB blaster does for me...

I've used a Battery Terminal Puller to remove the wiper arms (they have terminal/wiper arm pullers as well). For the push pins in the windshield cowl, a small pick or screwdriver and a door panel clip tool will work.

Hey, just had to post here to say thanks, I fixed my wipers tonight after work.

I have recently acquired a 97 GT coupe with a myriad of issues, but it still runs well and is my back-and-forth-to-work car. I had a 2000 GTP coupe years ago but sold it to buy my wife a mini-van after our 2nd daughter was born.

Gotta say it's nice to be back in a comfortable and sporty car.
I'm sure I'll be checking in now and then as I attempt to fix more issues.
