I just did an investigation.
I turned the air on and watched both side actuators.
The driver side is a new actuator.
The passenger side actuator appears to work fine when I adjust the temp setting.
The driver side, however, without touching the temp setting I can see the actuator on the fritz. The actuator rotates back and fourth like it can't decide to go warm or cold.
Because sometimes I do get cold air but most time its warm.
So something is causing the actuator to rotate without telling it to rotate by adjusting the temp setting.

You say you recently had the compressor changed and the system checked.

Iirc shouldn't the air dryer and something else be changed when you open the system as well?

Have you had the freon level checked again?

iirc low freon level will cause the issues you have.

I guess what I'm saying is just because the compressor was changed and the system checked then doesn't mean a leak has occurred since then.

I'm with Herc, check those freon levels. It might not be it but it could that if the system has a little leak to it or something just didn't go right when charging the system.

Took the gtp in for ac check.
Freon levels fine.
Its electrical.
Occasionally it will blow cold, but only for a few seconds.
It will switch to heat.
I don't know where to go or do.
I could try dealer, to diagnose it, then go from there.
But I don't want to even go there for that, don't trust them on anything.

Get a used control head and swap it see what happens.

The actuators are easy to test. Unplug the vacumn line and hook up a MITYVAC...its a handheld vacumn pump. It has a gauge on it showing vacumn. When you pump it up, the actuator should move fully, and hold vacumn. Do this first. Turn on the A/C and give vacumn to the actuator and you will get your cold air back. In all my years working on these models I've never seen an actuator go bad. In MANY past experiences with your same problem, it is just the climate control unit. Get another one from a salvage yard.

The only actuators I ever saw go bad were the ones under the hood on models that had secondary air injection.

Not sure when they started sec. air inj, but I know they were power robbing emission devices. An actuator for each exhaust manifold would open and an electric blower pump forced fresh air into the exhaust making it cleaner out of the tailpipe.....but if they're grabbing air that was in our atmosphere already what's the point? LOL!!!

It doesn't matter what control unit you have, they all fail sometimes, just do the test like I explained. If the blend door actuator is ok and holds vacumn...its either one of the small plastic hoses or the control head. I've never seen an actuator or line go bad, just the control head....

Bought a used control unit off ebay.
However, I got the three dial one, not the dual lever one.
UGHHHH
I may try it anyhow to see if I can get driver side to blow cold.

I got this one:

But currently in the car is this one:

So I hooked it up, even though its the wrong control head for my gtp.
So now the driver side blows cold and hard, and pass warm.
So that leaves me to believe the original control head was the issue.
Now I just need to get the right replacement control head.
Wasn't paying enough attention when I purchase this one online.

After sending back the wrong control unit, my goof on ordering, and spending extra money on my goof I installed a used dual correct unit.
COLD AC!
Not sure if it was coincidence or not, but the wrong head unit in the car killed my battery, $187 red top.
My warranty wasn't showing in computer, and I had no receipt, I had to chuck out that $187.
So after many months of sweating, I finally can ride in the GTP cool again.

Pure coincedence and Red tops are not as good as they use to be. There are other agm batteries out there. Plus there is even a Lio battery you can use.

If not Optima, who would you recommend? I heard good stuff about Braille batteries. Who makes the Li battery?
