GP running fine lately. Pull into a spot, go in store, come out to
Start GP and it stalls after initial startup.
Tried fuel relay bypass to no avail.
Unable to check fp right now.
Any thoughts?

Does it sputter at all or just out right die like you turned the key off?

Have you checked your aeroforce MAF reading when this happens?

Yes it sputters.
No I haven't looked at MAF.
Will do more today.
Had it towed to my mechanic.
Once there it fired right up and stayed running.
Drive it home.

Stalled this morn.
Tapped on pump, no start.
Unplugged MAF, it started.
Plugged in MAF and it died.
Now to find a MAF for '96 Aurora.

wink

You can try cleaning it with electrical contact cleaner or a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Be gentle though.

Or if you need a new used one check Car-parts.com

Car is running fine.
Cleaned MAF and airfilter with MAF cleaner and KN filter cleaner.
If I have trouble, I'll uplug maf and limp the car home.

I bought a fuel gauge.
I'm not getting anything.
Just to make sure it was hooked up right,
I disconnected the fuel line and turned the key
to acc. and got no fuel.
I guess I need a pump??
What exactly do I get, whole assembly or order
ZZP350 in Tank Fuel Pump
I'm not sure what to do.
I don't want to keep throwing parts at it.
Getting no codes.

Whole assembly?
Order online for better pump or go local
Auto parts store?
Install write up?
Thanks

When you turn the key do you hear the pump prime?

Give the bottom of the tank a few good smacks with some wood to see if you can get the pump on. Or remove the access panel in the trunk and try tapping it that way.

If it's done I would try and get a low mile stock one or replace just the pump with another stock or OE replacement.

Changing the pump isn't too difficult but sometimes the lines can be hard to get on and off the canister and pump.

Don't get one from a parts store, too expensive. ZZP/Wbody store should have one for a good price or Rockauto.

No need for a write up, it's quite easy. Remove access panel in trunk, unplug fuel pump harness and fuel lines, remove C-clip holding the pump assembly into the tank. You'll ahve to wiggle it around to get the float out as well so be careful not to break it.

Once the assembly is out it's self explanatory. Disconnect 2 lines, remove socks etc and rremove pump from the assembly. Reassamble in reverse order.

OR you can get a whole assembly. Check CGP classifieds or ask around, someone should have one.

I'll probably order one.
Any reviews on the one zzp sells that has
a better output?

I bought a new pump from rockauto and installed it in about 45 minutes really easy and cheap works greats. I installed it about six months ago and haven't had a problem. Just make sure you tighten the clamps really tight or they will blow off. I would do it again if I had to. The only reason to buy the whole assembly is if the gauge stops working.Good luck

So after trial and error I have some note worthy info.
I replaced the MAF, new fuel pump and assembly, new fuse, new
fuel pump relay.
Car was still shutting off.
I know these GPs have issues with the relay.
Most just buy a new relay.
I think its not the relay, but rather the connection of the relay
to the spade connectors in the fuse box.
My pops and I decided to bend the five prongs on the new relay
in a way so that the prongs made better connection with the spade
connectors in the fuse box.
They are bent in a "S" like shape but the bottom of the "S" is straight so the prong can enter the spade.
Car has been running a week now this way.
The last occurrence that took place to figure this out was when
I was on the way to work and due to new paving being done on local street the force of bumps in the road caused the car to shut off. This created attention towards the connection of the relay to its fuse slot.
