I'm thinking about adding a K&N cone filter to my 99 GP SE. Does it make a difference if you use a 7" or a 9", or will only the 7" fit. Thank you.

I believe that most people who opt for an open-cone intake (not enclosed by a box) use a 9" cone. I think that most cold-air boxes also use 9" filters. I know that the SLP intake uses a 7" cone filter.

My Thrasher CAI has a 9in K&N Cone in it. You should have plenty of room.

Hello,
I've seen in past posts, that a K&N Panel replacement provides enough airflow for a stock L67(SC3800). With that being said, It's up to you what you want it to look like when you're done, the 7" will provide enough air for the N/A 3800. But, the 9" is more of an eye catcher.

I'm running a 14". Kinda overkill, but I had it lying around so I figured I'd use it.

I do, because I've used it on 2 other cars. Both my 93 Camaro and my 96 Trans Am ran this same filter. Actually I originally got it for my Neon, but it didn't fit. blush
