So my 880 HID's (6000K) were amazing, until they stopped working. We had a heavy rain one day and after driving with them on and then parking the car, about 3 hours later i go to drive and they don't turn on? I immediately think its the ballasts but i tested them with the connections on my headlights and they work. 880 kits don't have a connector to plug into the stock fog wire, just a black and red wire. Could not taping the connections and adding rain could have led to burning out the switch or something? Should i check something or am i S.O.L. and have no fog lights ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated before i decide to sell these puppy's.

I've had a similar problem with HID's just dieing and i refuse to go back to them now because of the experiences i've had with them. Mine started flickering one day and never came back and i could tell they were burnt out by how they felt really warm.

no

when you say you tested the ballasts with your headlights, were you using the headlight wire to turn on the relay or the fog light wire?

just start checking for power until you find somewhere it isn't where it should be... start at the fuse, check the fog light wire, check after the relay... check your power/ground connections. Was your stock fog light switch still turning the fogs on/off? If so, is the bulb in that switch still illuminating?

I plugged my stock bulbs back in ... both sides, and they both didn't light up, they were NOT burnt out either. I'm going to troubleshoot a few more things here and there but i don't see a light @ the end of the tunnel, and i really enjoyed them for the 2 days i had them !

Update: So again i tested the ballasts, they're fine. I checked the actual connection on the fog light on/off switch, good, im not sure if the bigger fuse for the fog lights is infact blown, i'm not sure how to check that, and i tried both sides connected and to no avail, they didn't light up.

I'm stumped. What to do?

** I read up for two seconds and people said that I might have to replace the fuse with a 15amp one opposed to a 10amp one ? Any input on whether or not that would work?**

you can try it it shouldn't hurt anything, though really there should be next to NO current draw on the fog light wire if you are using a wiring harness with a relay.

Fixed. 15A fuse in place of the blown 10A one and it works perfectly.
