This guy answer some q's and it seems to match my problems.

"The Transgo Shift Kit part number SK4T60E is a common upgrade kit that some rebuilders and shops use during an overhaul on this transmission. I have used hundreds of them and never again had the 1870 code. The price range is anywhere from $50 to $100 is if I remember correctly, its been a while since I have built one of those, but your transmission shop should be able to get you one no problem. It should be common practice to address the 1870 code in this transmission and a lot of shops just install new valve bodies so they dont have to worry about it, but the Transgo kit is the way to go to prevent the problem from coming back down the road. It is a lot of work to install because the transmission has to be dropped down out of the car to do it, so if your shop is warrantying this then they should have no problem making it right with you, and this kit is very cheap insurance to them that it wont come back as long as everything else checks out OK inside the transmission. ."

Who is selling it? Never heard of it.

After reading that other page, it does sound like your problem might be valve-body related. I know you've had a few repairs on the transmission... was it ever entirely replaced? Is the valve body the same the entire time?

Nop, the tranny and the valve body is another completely, that's why I'm so upset cause it was not cheap at all (AGAIN) and the SES code poped up, you know that felling, after a lot of cash suddenly the diabolic SES shows up with the music from "twillight zone"... lol

The SK 4t60e shift kit from Transgo can be installed with trans. in the car ,the kit for 91up ,corrects light throttle convertor shudder, contains hardened pins and tuff accumulator piston seals to reduce clutch failure due to pin and seal wear ,3rd clutch seal is self expanding .Chico(Pops)

Are you still covered under warranty? How much $$ have you dumped into your transmission problems?

Basically you just drop the pan and remove the valve body all parts are now accessable for the kit to be installed .Chico.)Pops)

Yes I have still warranty, and I have spent since my first failure around 3000 usd.
I asked Ed Morad about an entire swap of the powertrain and it gooes from 1000 to 2000 usd depending on mileage, and i'm talking about a supercharged engine, my problem is tha long line between us called The Border...

Shipping would be a killer and because you have a 97 swapping to a L-67 and a 4T65-e would be a problem ,best option would be a top swap and to find a good 4T60-eHD from a 96 bonneville SSI this trans .is or was one of the tougher trans. around and has a much lower failure rate than the 4T65eHD of course the 4T60e can be built to withstand 400whp with the right parts,as always Alex you have your fair share of problems living in Mexico and any parts locating I can help you with just ask.Chico(Pops)

4T60e-HD? I was not aware these were ever made... would they swap right in without the need to change the wiring harness and such? I wonder how hard a low mileage one would be to come by.

65hd uses diff connectors then the 60hd yes there was a 4t60e-HD the bonivillss used them with the early gen 1 sc's the 97 GP's and up have the 65hd the 97 has an early verision of the 65hd it from what i have heard had some build issues.

the main diff between the 60 series and the 65 is that the 65 is fully electronic and the 60 uses a vaccum actuator.

with the 65 you can install a full shift kit from the trany pan... the 60's you can only do part of the kit from the pan the rest you need to pull the valve body (heart of trany)

So to install the kit on my 97 GT I have to take off the tranny?

yes, you are right about the 97 gtp having the 4T65E-HD. However, the 97 SE's and GT's came with the 4T60E.

98+ GT's came with the 4T65E

So my car, being originally an 97 SE w/ the 3.8L, came with the 4T60E. If I were to find a 4T60E-HD, would that be a direct swap in?

Yes Drummer if you can locate a 4T60ehd it will swap in and you would'nt have the same issues as the 65hd would .The 60eHD did come in earlier SSI's but the 96 bonny is the one you want as it was the first year of the series 2 3.8 and used the 60eHD so it would be a direct swap ,you would need the axles to .Chico(Pops)

would it be worth it for a 03 gtp trans (4t65ehd) to convert to the 4t60ehd?

Blewgtp I don't think it would be a worth while swap both trans are similar except the 65ehd is fully electronically controlled whereas the 60ehd still relied on partial vacuum assist for shifting,it would be a worth while upgrade from the 60e to the 60ehd because the pcm would work .Chico(Pops)

I've done several shift kits that incorporate changing the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator components...... What about the 3-4 components????
I've never gone that far, and I think that's where Alex is experiencing his problems.
