My ex girls neighbor has a gp SE and he did a tranny flush and now his car is jerking when it shifts gears. he took it to a dealership and paid 100 dollars for to put on the diagnotic machine and the valve body of the tranny is going bad and they wanted to charge him 90 dollars to take the pan of to see if any metal chunks is on the pan,but he has been driving on it for a year and a half now and he says when it gets real hot outside thats when it starts sometimes or if he is driving a long time for hours. THen when it jerks he cut the car off and its back to normal for about 15-20 minutes.

I thought thats very odd to run on a bad valve body for that long and is it possible the tranny can last as long as the engine when it goes out maybe.

He also wants to know if he should get the tranny rebuild or a new one but i told him I don't think a rebuild tranny will last on a car with over 100,000 miles, I could be wrong but need answers from ya. confused

Start new.

For some reason the rebuilds don't last as long. Not sure if it's the materials, workmanship or racing that does it.

This is a good reason NOT to flush a high mileage tranny

I've always been told to not do a tranny flush... little late now though.

It depends on the money that this person can spend. If he can then get a new one, if not the get the rebuild

Well because I did not know the guy over a year ago, he would not have this problem but I was told many times to not flush and mine still runs perfect, but he wants to know how much a new one will cost. I told him maybe at a dealership its between 2500-3000 maybe, any ideas on price.

I like living close to ed morad. I wouldn't even consider rebuilding it. Just pick up a low mileage tranny and swap it out (not so simple, I know). Rebuild engines or trannies just don't seem to last as long as new/young replacement ones.

I think he reason you don't flush a high mileage tranny is because the stuff thats built up in the clutches needs to stay there.
