I need tires on my '98 GT. Just found a nail in the right rear, and it can't be fixed. I have Bridgestone HP 50's now, and I got over 60k miles out of them. My car is a stock, daily driver.

Budget is tight, so I want to put on just a basic, good all around tire for as little $ as possible. Less than $100/tire would be ideal.

Local BJ's Club has good sales on both Michelin and BFGs.

Any opinions, thoughts on a particular BFG or Michelin tires would be appreciated.

BFg Traction TA is a good tire. Check out the new BFG Advantage.

The Firestone Firehawk GT has been great for me. More of a Performanve tire, louder over expansion joints, but very good in rain.

Check out the Yokohama Avid T and TRZ. They are also good tires with a budget price.

BFG Traction T/A's are pretty good tires. Nice treadlife and traction. Kinda ugly sidewalls though.

I actually like Bridgstone's Turanza tires. Excellent mileage warranty but they grip really well too. These ones aren't directional like the Traction T/A's either.

I agree with the BFG Traction T/A's especially for a GT. I'd like something a little grippier for my GTP, but that may be an unrealistic desire.

I'm very happy with my yokohama's. I'd buy them again if they weren't discontinued.

Who says the H4S is discontinued? It is still available at tirerack and listed on yokohama's website.

I bought new tires a year ago and was in the same situation. I bought Dunlop G/T Qualifiers and do not like them. Wish I would have spent more and bought another set of BF Goodrich Insignia 2000's. They were good in snow and heavy rain.

Wow, that makes me happy. When I had a flat and went to a place to get a new tire, they said they contacted yokohama and he told me they were discontinued. Those guys are d-bags.
