Hi, i read this topic by Bryant, and i have the same issue, and, when i turn the car off, it sounds like a squeak sound before getting off.
What are the symptoms of a bad belt??

Thanks

we used to have a squeak, but i think it was one of the cooling fans shutting off. also had some bad bearings for the idlers, but i don't guess you'd hear that if you turn the car off.

To check your belt Alex look at the grooves on the inside there should be no missing pieces. Cracks on the smooth part is ok cracks on the ribs are bad.

Is it possible that a bad belt could brake suddenly?

Yes that's why it's important to check them about once every six months or so and change them before they fail. If it's the accessory belt and lose that one then you won't have power steering, an alternator, water pump or air conditioning. If the S/C belt is lost then you lose a whole bunch of hammer power.
