Are you not using an AFC right now? Or how do you boost to 18-22 psi?
Anyways, you will need an AFC with your new setup no matter what MAF you use (except for Matt's mod'd maf) so why bother changing from what you have now?
A proper tune and you wouldn't notice any difference, even at idle.

I don't need an AFC yet. my injectors are maxed out. How do you plan on going past that without an AFC? Everywhere I have read you will max out even an LT1 at about 15psi.
