As I said in my previous post, I just bought an 01 GP SE 3.1. It is 100% stock, , and that has to change. I am use to trucks and Mustangs so I am not really sure what to do w/ this GP. We had a 95 at one point but those things were too ugly to try to do anything with. What are some general mods (performance and styling) that ya'll recomend, keeping in mind I have to pay my bills still . I know one thing, it needs a tint job and new wheels, the plastic rims Pontiac decided to use have to go. Appearently the previous owner wasn't use to wide cars because the passenger sides are scuffed something awful.

CAI and a U-Bend delete is a start. Note there aren't that much options in comparison to the 3.8 but they are out there. www.pfyc.com www.zzperformance.com

Where at in KY are you? I'm down here in London and could refer you to someone who does good tint jobs at a decent price.
What exactly are you wanting out of the 3100 (give me a whp ballpark) and I'll tell you your options.

I am not really sure what all I want to do. I want the knocking sound that is mentioned in my other post (is this crap normal?) to go away for starters. I am out in the big Vette City... known locally as Boring Green. I have a guy that did the tint on my S-10 really cheap, I just don't have the money to spare. I am just getting an idea of what I'm looking to lay down on the GP. As far as the WHP goes, I am not really sure... Heck, I'm not sure what the max is for the 3100. And trust me TastyBake, I wanted the 3.8 when I was looking (coming from a massive 4.3 in my S-10) but once I saw the price tag and the insurance jump just for mentioning GTP , I decided not to go that route just yet.

Boring Green? Never heard it called that before. How you can be bored is beyond me, we don't even have a mall or anything in London. I believe the 3100 bottom end is good for 500whp. You'd have to install forged pistons not much over 300whp though. Take a look here: http://www.milzymotorsports.com/ Milzy is a tad expensive though. If you shop around you can get better prices, etc.

Would installing the forged pistons get rid of my piston knock, if that is what it is?

Yes, but for the price to do it properly (complete bottom end rebuild and so on), you'd be looking at more than a plain-jane L67 swap.

does anyone know where that http://www.milzymotorsports.com/ is located I was thinking that if my car is still in good shape when the engine goes to hell in it or start having problems with I am just going to drive up there and have them do the L67 Swap into 97-03 Grand Prix 3100 for $3,265.00 + $800 labor and if I do that I will probaly repaint my car don't want to repaint it now cause it already has like 108,000 miles on it.

L67 swap $1800+ for engine/tranny minus labor L67 swap is by far the cheapest. If your tranny was ok, you could get an L67 engine and just an HD conversion for the tranny. Even cheaper.
