This might be a dumb question, but what all would I need to lower my GT, I found some lowering springs that will fit and lower it 1.5".
Would I have to get new struts and shocks and all that too?

New aftermarket struts are highly recommended along with anti pogo washers. The only struts that are designed to run with lowering springs are adjustables and they are pricey pricey. I can't remember which brands are recommended but if you click the search button you'll find some good info.

By the way the shocks are built into the struts.

And Welcome to the board.

Chances are if the car has more then 30k or older then four years the struts are already shot.

i hear eibachs suck. really rough ride.

I have SSC with stock struts and the ride is as good as expected with lowering springs.

I would say Spring Tech springs an they also make struts for lowered cars you would also need new strut mounts an anti pogo washers .Chico(pops)

If you want a drop similar to the GMPP lowering kit go with vogtland springs and kyb agx's. The drop of the GMPP lowering kit is 0.9" in the front and 0.7" in the rear. Also get some pogo eliminators which can be found on zzp and wbody store. I would go with vogtland or SSc springs over eibachs. FYI KYB GR2's are not meant for lowering springs more than 1". I had GR2's and B&G's prior to the GMPP lowering kit and the struts went out at 10K miles.

cant remember what Alex went with for his drop, 1.7 IIRC, but he had a NIIIICE set up. Where are you when we need you, TheOne2043? Dont ask me all his suspension work, but I felt NO pogo, no washboard effect, nothing adverse whatsoever.

I am sorry to hurt Alex's feelings, but I road in his car and it was in New York City, and it that setup let you know you changed something.
It wasn't pleasant in that driving area.

Hmm. Rural PA wasnt too bad of a ride. yet again, realize that you ARE talkin about NYC here, and their roads are not known for being the greatest in the world. Yet again, something may have changed or worn in the last year or so. Thank you for the update, though.

From my experience in TheOne2043's car, I would say yes. 1.3" or 1.7" drop on all 4 corners. If you feel froggy and wanna try and do a rake, 1.7" up front and 1.3" in the back.

Ok, thanks for all your help, I was planning on waiting till spring or summer to do all this, just wanted to know what all I need and maybe start looking for parts.
One more question, racing springs or lowering springs? I want good handling and it to be pretty hard suspension

Well Alex was driving, my 240-260 lb buddy in the passenger seat and my tall 190lb body was in the back. I guess that suspension didn't like all three of us at once.

A friend of mine just got some for his 3K GT vr4 and said they were different than lowering springs, I wasn't really sure if they were or not, just trying to get some info on them.

Not real sure what the difference would be. I dont think there are "racing" springs for these cars. But I assume that they accomplish the same thing as lowering springs.

Check the clubgp classifieds to cheap, used lowering springs.

TireRack.com, WBS, PFYC, one of those stores give you the option. All I've ever seen for this car, though, is 1.3 or 1.7 drop. No racing springs whatsoever.

you can remedy the lowering vibes that you get by using shorter dogbones or cradle spacers.

cradle spacers are more expensive and a lot of work to install.

shorter dogbones are $20 and easy to install.

lowering changes the angles of your axles so by using either of those solutions it fixes the geometry and you don't get lowering vibes.

you may have to flip your swaybar though. your downpipe might hit it after lowering.

dogbones are not that bad to do i guess....is that what you did to handle the vibration......im pretty sure i flipped my swaybar when i putin the gm handling upgrade to not hit my DP

yes, I put in shorter dogbones. You can get them from a Montana/Venture van, they are the same one's WBS and ZZP sell.
