I've been thinking of either going with black rims (doubtful) or painting my current rims black, which are the standard 5 spoke rims..

First off, would this work just painting them or would it not be worth the hassle and stuff?

Second, how do you guys think this would look? My car is dark forest green..

I'm kinda torn cuz I like the look of the silver that I have now, but a couple months ago when I had the donut on the car I liked how the black looked lol.

Lemme know what you guys think..

Black on forest green doesn't seem like the best color combo ever, but I haven't ever seen it personally (although theres probably a reason for it).

theres a dark green civic around my neighborhood with flat black rims. horrible looking.

I home no one would intentionally go for that look. silver on green is much betta.

I put the silver and black wheels from my wife's monte on my Redfire GP last winter, cause my tires were better in the snow than hers. It did not look bad, but not that good either. IMO, black wheels look good on black cars, or cars with black accents.

just pick 2005 as the model year, it's not the same but at least you could see it on a grand prix

I think it would look good as long as you put some clear coat on the wheels. I painted my wheels black and had no problems with mine. I eve get a couple of compliments on my wheels but my car is white so it goes better with my car. I think black wheels looks good on a dark green car.

Ok so what would be the process of painting my stock rims if I were to do this?

I have no experience at all, so be as descriptive as possible lol. Like what type of paint, sanding, clear coating, etc.

Here's pic of mine a few years back when I painted the rims as one of my very first mods.

I cleaned the rims first, then scuffed the surface with a scotchbrite, cleaned again with alcohol to remove any sanding residue and let dry. Taped off the tires and shot with hi temp gloss black engine paint. They also make a hi-temp clearcoat for wheel in a spray can which I have used. You can scuff and clean your color coat before applying the clear gloss for good adhesion.

Just remember after you paint the wheels keep the spray wheel cleaning solutions FAR,FAR away as they will kill the gloss finish in a hurry. Just good ole soapy water and quik detailer after drying will keep them shiny and make brake dust easy to remove.
