Took the car to my mechanic. They had to rebalance all four tires. Took it for a cruise and it seems better. I need to get back on the highway though. But I think that was the cause, unbalanced
I've noticed over the past two weeks the car seems to vibrate. It has become a little worse. It finally shook the passenger seat belt connector near the console soo much it was rattling on the console. It seems to be noticeable during highway speeds and more noticeable when the tires haven't warmed up yet. I did a tire rotation couple weeks ago, myself. I am thinking I need a balance on the tires. I am going to take it to my mechanics for this and also have them check the motor mount, and look at the suspension. Is there anything I should have them check out. I did have the CV axles both replaced many miles ago. I am thinking it is a balance issue.

You could have moved a unbalanced tire up front where it is much more noticable. Have you checked the wheel torque? My new wheels loosened up a little teh first 200 miles, then again, I only torque mine to 90ft lbs. That way if I have a flat out on the road, I can take it off easier.

72chevman,
Why not just torque them to the factory spec of 100ft/lbs? It's only 10ft/lbs more and I've never had trouble getting off a wheel that was torqued to spec.

Mainly cause my dainty wife drives my cars, and she can't loosen them at 100 with the wrench that is in the car. Not that I would ever expect her to, but I am away from home quite often, and last time she called for road side assistance, it was going to be 2 hrs. Luckily she works with some nice young men who changed the flat in her work's parking lot.

whaddaya mean our lugnuts are 100 ft/lbs? I thought they were 150? Dont tell me Haynes lead me astray. Again.
With the vibration issue, I would also inspect the tires for cupping, bubbles, or seperating tread.
have you inspected or worked on your brakes, tie rods, suspension, or any mounting points?
If you havent done any work to the items in that 3rd paragraph, Id ignore it.
good luck, and hope you find the issue soon.

I'd like to change the tie end rods just because I think they are original. I've done the GMPP handling kit. I haven't really looked at it since I find it easier to take it up to the shop and just have them look at it on the lift and do a balance.

I would make sure all suspension torques are to spec. just to be sure.
When I replaced my CVs, some vibrations went away. Then I replaced the front hubs, and more vibration went away. Tie rods went next, and minimal vibration was eliminated. Next up will be struts, springs, mounts, bushings, and GMPP handling kit. Im still entertaining ideas on whether I want progressiv Intrigue springs or Eibach 1.3" drops (like TheOne has). either way, I would still inspect the tires and all handling torque-specs.

Probably just need to have the tires balanced, I had a same situation before where the whole car shakes espcially on the highway and had got the tires balance and some of my lugnuts were not tight on one of my tires.(darn jiffy lube people)

I've ran into that many times, amazing how much re-balanced tires will make the ride smooth again.

Were Your tires bought New...or was Your GP sitting some place for a while? I experienced some Crazy & Scary Vibrations on the Highway...after buying some Michelin tires from a friend with a 98' GP which He wrecked. But I was not aware of the Fact, that the car was sitting for a few months...causing the tires to warp, with tiny Cracks. But what really made Me mad, was that I wasted $70. on Balancing, and Alignment.
The Goodyear shop finally found the problem, & a soon as I replaced them & got on the Highway...the Vibrations was gone. So, even if that's Not the case...Guys beware of used Tires, that You know nothing about.

It seemed to fix it. But now my vibration is bake. Steering wheel shakes a slight bit. Just enough that it is uncomfortable. My tires are pretty much brand new. All rebalanced recently.

How many miles are on the car? I've got a really bad shimmy and just figured out the other week that my ball joints are shot finally at 185k. Replacing them this weekend actually.
