Well my tranny has been acting up for a long time know and for the heck of it, I got a estimate last week to see how much a new tranny would cost from the guy I got my oil change from.

Well its basically 3,000 dollars for a new one. The real price is like 29xx something. Its a jasper transmission. Are those reliable transmissions, I've heard good things about them but wanted ya'll opinion. I asked about a rebuilt one and he said basically anything over 130-150,000 miles, the tranny is ugly and there's no rebuilding a tranny with alot of miles on it.

I don't have that type of money right now and I really wanted to get another tranny from ED ship and just find somebody to put it in my car but I don't know any shops that will do it because if you go to a shop they only want to put in there type of transmission that they supply.

What do ya'll think.

if they want to charge you that much buy a zzp tranny and have them instal it it would be cheeper. yes ed would have lots of trannnys, go to your local junkyard useually you can get them for cheep and at my local junkyard they give you a 90 day warenty

i looked at zzp they want 1900.00 for a tranny with free install

I'd have to disagree with the guy you talked to... I got my tranny rebuilt when it had 130k miles on it.

As long as the hard parts are okay, it should only cost around $1,700-2k to rebuild including R&R.

Jasper stuff is really nice, but for that price you could have a real nice ZZP or dynotech tranny.

prolly not. Most rebuild shops tend to go with slightly harder parts than stock. Think the difference between OE struts and GR-2. Unless you went with AAMCO. Then you're screwed, buddy. Install those handles on your ankles and BOHICA.

so why does everyone hate aamco?? im already screwed i guess cause they started workin on it already but aamco gives you a year and a half warrenty compaired to a 30 day from most other shops around the area

aamco has a habit of screwing up your car worse than it was when they first got it. Also they tend to tell you you need things fixed that aren't covered in their "warranty"

Yeah I know its costly, but I was saying if I could get a zzp tranny or a tranny from ed, I dont know where to take it to for somebody to put it in because here nobody wants to install a tranny unless its the tranny the shop supplies for the customer because they know 9 times out of 10 that the customer got the tranny way cheaper than what the shop would charge.

I don't know anybody to put it in.

I can't really vouch for the quality but there seems to be a few co's that sell rebuilds on e-bay for around $800 ,they do offer a warrenty so they may be worth checking them out ,I'm sure if search around you can find someone to r&r a tranny for around $300 .Chico(pops)
