No BOSE, no amp.

I think the 97's had the Premium Sound System (or something like that) and the amp was somewhere under the dash.

I've heard the amp (if you have it) was placed under the glove box behind the carpet panel.

That's on the 97's.
The BOSE amp is in the trunk.

Actually iirc the premium sound one with the EQ(non bose) has an amp and it's located under the rear seat.

Ok. So my amp (assuming that I have one) is located under the rear seat (according to Herc). Before I go and rip my dash apart, are you sure Herc? I want to check this little puppy out.

I'm not 100% sure. I have heard of several different places but the seat seems to be the most popular. I might suggest doing a search over at clubgp in the audio section. Don't post but do a "search" for amp, stock amp and see what is already there. You may have to wade through a bunch of BS but I'm pretty sure you might find what your after in there.

Does your stereo have the EQ? I thought those were the ones with the "hidden amp" for the 97's.

In my 97 the amp is under the passenger side dash, pull the little carpeted cover out and down you can see it. It's been a while since I've looked at it and its pretty small. Is there a plug in you can replace it with? I've never really been into stereo systems much louder than I can stand. The factory sytem seems to be OK to me. To each his own. smile

I am going to have to go play hide and seek in the car, becaused if I do have an amp, might look into replacing it for better sound, and add some spkrs for the back windows and doors
