RooK has done a 3100 to L67 swap so wait for him to chime in. I'm sure he can tell you everything you need to know. I do know that he swapped transmissions by putting in a 4T65e-HD trans that comes with all L67's. Whether you have to or not I don't know. Good luck with your project!

I don't know what in involved with an H-body engine besides mount brackets. I would highly suggest sticking with a W-body dropout. Mine was out of a '99 GTP. Email Ed, he has more than what is posted on his Ebay site, and usually at better prices. Just tell him your doing a swap on an '02 GP and need a Wbody L67 dropout and a '02 GTP harness.

Off the top of my head, you'll need a '98-02 PCM, an '02 GT/GTP wireharness, and a L67 throttle cable. If you go with the GT harness, it needs an L67 swap kit (relocated map sensor plug, adds boost sensor plug) and you need to reroute the EVAP purge solenoid plug. I've done all that myself and I'm running an '00 L36 harness.

You can use the same tranny, but you'll need to reprogram the pcm to see the gearing change. If not, your tranny will shift wierd and mph will be off.

The 3800 weighs quite abit more than the 3100. Not only is it physically larger, it's all iron (3100 has aluminum heads). The front end of my car does sit a bit lower than it did when I had the old powertrain.

I hope you meant $1600 not $16000

You could buy 3 GTPs with $16k.

Odds are, to have it installed, labor is going to be a grand or two.

I'd call Ed Morad and see what he says about swapping an L67 into an LG8 car.

Your best bet may be to get the engine and tranny together. That way, it's more of a simple swap and there isn't anythign to tune and adjust.

Honestly, RooK is our expert on this. The Pink Panther is IIRC the only LG8->L67 swap on our forum.

Here's a couple more things you need I thought of:
-A/C hose for the compressor.
-Power steering pressure hose for the 3800 w/o magnasteer. You'll reuse a portion of your return line.
-3800 downpipe if not running headers.

Honestly, there isn't much information on this swap out there. I bought the factory service manual (highly recommended) and just began looking at wiring pictures to figure out what needed to be removed for the harness swap. Everything else was by the seat of the pants.

If you pass 110, you peg it. All GPs have the same instrument cluster, sans special editions. You don't restart the mileage counter, the car itself still has the same miles... only the engine is new. Leave a note on the door frame stating engine mileage and when it was replaced (in miles on the car) or on a note in the glovebox.

Well, your stock intake rubber won't work, so a couple pieces of pipe, a rubber sewage coupler, and a cone filter and you're set. Might as well fab an intake while your at it.
