Have any of you ever change the alternator bearings? How hard is it do?

just buy a new alt... if u went into a part store and asked for the bearings they would laugh at you

lol. Actually the noise is just starting slightly at cold start ups. I called a place that sells electrical parts and he told me he had the bearings for $15. I just wanted to know if it's hard to open up the alternator and replace them.

No is actually rather easy, just make sure when you put it back together you line evrhting up right.

Surprisingly we stock a few at work. Not for anything this new though, they're considered non-serviceable. Same for starters and solenoids.

Both. Some for the old GM one wires, others for slightly newer models.
