under the rear drivers door tucked up next to the frame, i would highly sugest getting line wrenches to help take it off, make sure you bleed pressure off from the lines so you dont have gas spraying everywhere

They are commonly rusted on pretty good so try soaking the nut end in liquid wrench the nite before you try and remove it,they can be a PITA to remove the way I've found that works best is first remove the slip fitting on the tank end (easy) then hold the fuel line nut with a good wrench and turn the filter off with either a line wrench or vice grips.Chico(pops)

get under your car see if it looks rusted or if the filter itself looks rusty or old?

about the size of a soda can maybe a little shorter

I'd give it two wrenches!
Just becareful not to get the gas on your face or eyes. About a cup full will come out.
It's not that difficult. If you can tackle a coupler, then you can tackle the full filter.

If you have the original fiter on there your probably better off taking to a shop to have the filter changed .Chico(pops)
