I got email from my dad that I choose dealership to call him since I'm deaf. Anyway, I got his message today but I don't buy this story. What do you think? Cold weather make tie rod noise? It is not his word but that's what dealership told him on phone call. This one was repair on May 2008. I think they don't want repair under "free" since it is same part that I'm complain about click noise.

Dealership:
The noise it is making is the tie rod boot squeezing back and forth. Changing the boot will not help. A new one would do the same thing. It is normal but it happens more the colder it gets. When warm weather comes back it will stop.

umm, no. go to another shop. Or inject your own grease into the fittings if you have serviceable tie rod ends.

Thank for answer. Well, it is already repair by them last May 2008. I would rather have it fix under warranty since it is noise. I will have to talk with them tomorrow. That's why it doesn't make sense to me. My summer car which I have to drive during winter don't make any noise. That's left me a puzzle why it is "normal" to make click noise on this winter beater instead my summer car don't make noise in 4 years?

they're just trying to squeeze even more money out of you. Either stick with it, or take it somewhere else, or do it yourself. Tie rod ends are not that hard at all. You just might be able to remove and install them with weight on wheels.

How it is squeeze me a more money if this part is under warranty? It is same part so I always saved the record to prove that so they can't charge me that. So no money for out of my pocket. I can't do it myself because it is snowing/cold out there.

Me too. I may be deaf but I can feel it from steering wheel. It can't be normal. I will see about that tomorrow. If they still say stupid same story about squeaking noise is "normal".

If you can feel it, and the tie rods are new, I highly doubt its the rubber boot...

The click noise is happen only if I'm turning. Dealership found that click noise that are from tie rod and says "bs normal story".

It's it a click or more of a clunk?

Honestly, it is hard to tell what sound like from click or clunk.

If your feeling it in turns it could be an inner tie rod end which probably wasn't replaced or a CV joint.

Tie rods don't usually make enough contact to feel them. Stearing usually gets sloppy before you hear or feel them.

They told me it was an accorian boot when it moves it is making a noise. We did lube it, it is not unsafe & to replace the boots would be around $250-300. The technician said if it was his vehicle. He would not spend the money on it.

I guess I will let it slip because it is just winter beater.

did they replace the inner tie rods? if those are worn it may start making some noise.

the BOOT is not going to make noise, or produce a "clicking feeling" come on, a rubber boot???

next time you take your car in for squeaky brakes, they will say its the tire.......

anyway, without driving it or looking at it in person, its hard to know whats going on with it. Maybe its too minor to bother with, but I still do not buy that its a boot....

That sounds more like the CV joint boot not a tie rod boot.
