HI ALL.How do you tell if your tensioner pulley is bad.With the moter not running should you be able to move the tensioner by pushing down on the belt with out much force? Any help will be thankfull.

Its hard to tell what you would consider not to much force. General it should not move with just your hands if it does it shoudl be very little, you have to use a ratchet or special tool to release it far enough to get the belt off. these are designed to move a lil when the motor is running. Maybe take belt off and then check and see, if it feels loose or able to wiggle it may be bad, also check the beerings in the tensioner to make sure they are good to..

I think I have bad bearings in one of my tensioner pulleys. I can hear it when I start the carthen it goes away after a little bit. I guess I just need get a stick and do the ol' sound test with it.

Or sometime the water pump bearings do that terrapin and sometimes they dont/ one day they just piss all over the place,,,,

Yeah Terrapin..you might want to REALLY check into that noise..I had my main drivebelt tensioner pulley literally "break" in my driveway one night..thing is, it had been making a chirping noise a few days before that..so if I were you and you hear it making that noise, replace it before it leaves you stranded..ya know its only plastic, so it WILL break..just some friendly advice... hammer

Thats the way it works fix it before its a problems...i know it sounds like wipin before you poo but its worth it here
